[Termes IGN] régressionRésumé : (auteur) This study aims to develop three novel GIS-based models combining Genetic Algorithm (GA), Biogeography-Based Optimization (BBO) and Simulated Annealing (SA) with Support Vector Regression (SVR) for groundwater potential (GP) mapping in the governorate of Tafillah, Jordan. Twelve topographical, hydrological and geological factors were considered. The mapping process was done with and without feature selection (FS) conducted by integration of SVR model with GA, BBO and SA algorithms. The accuracy of these models was evaluated using the area under receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) curve. Comparisons among the models uncovered that the SVR-RBF-GA and SVR-RBF-BBO models performed better than the SVR-RBF-SA. The AUROC for two mentioned models were 0.964 and 0.996 in training and testing runs, respectively, while this metric was 0.953 and 0.986 for SVR-RBF-SA model in training and testing runs, respectively. The results showed that after FS, the models are more accurate in test data than train data. [Termes IGN] terrasseRésumé : (auteur) Rapid, accurate extraction of terraces from high-resolution images is of great significance for promoting the application of remote-sensing information in soil and water conservation planning and monitoring. To solve the problem of how deep learning requires a large number of labeled samples to achieve good accuracy, this article proposes an automatic identification method for terraces that can obtain high precision through small sample datasets. Firstly, a terrace identification source model adapted to multiple data sources is trained based on the WorldView-1 dataset. The model can be migrated to other types of images for terracing extraction as a pre-trained model. Secondly, to solve the small sample problem, a deep transfer learning method for accurate pixel-level extraction of high-resolution remote-sensing image terraces is proposed. Finally, to solve the problem of insufficient boundary information and splicing traces during prediction, a strategy of ignoring edges is proposed, and a prediction model is constructed to further improve the accuracy of terrace identification. In this paper, three regions outside the sample area are randomly selected, and the OA, F1 score, and MIoU averages reach 93.12%, 91.40%, and 89.90%, respectively. The experimental results show that this method, based on deep transfer learning, can accurately extract terraced field surfaces and segment terraced field boundaries. We present a pipeline for the accurate segmentation and extraction of rural road surface objects in 3D lidar point-cloud, as well as a method to extract geometric parameters belonging to tar seal. To decrease the computational resources needed, the point-clouds were aggregated into a 2D image space before being transformed using affine transformations. The Mask R-CNN algorithm is then applied to the transformed image space to localize, segment and classify the road objects. The segmentation results for road surfaces and markings can then be used for geometric parameter estimation such as road widths estimation, while the segmentation results show that the efficacy of the existing Mask R-CNN to segment needle-type objects is improved by our proposed transformations. [Termes IGN] toponymeRésumé : (auteur) Toponym recognition is used to extract toponyms from natural language texts, which is a fundamental task of ubiquitous geographic information applications. Existing toponym recognition methods with state-of-the-art performance mainly leverage supervised learning (i.e., deep-learning-based approaches) with parameters learned from massive, labeled datasets that must be annotated manually. This is a great inconvenience when model training needs to fit different domain texts, especially those of social media messaging. To address this issue, this article proposes a weakly supervised Chinese toponym recognition (ChineseTR) architecture that leverages a training dataset creator that generates training datasets automatically based on word collections and associated word frequencies from various texts and an extension recognizer that employs a basic bidirectional recurrent neural network based on particular features designed for toponym recognition. The results show that the proposed ChineseTR achieves a 0.76 F1 score in a corpus with a 0.718 out-of-vocabulary rate and a 0.903 in-vocabulary rate. All comparative experiments demonstrate that ChineseTR is an effective and scalable architecture that recognizes toponyms. [Termes IGN] structure-from-motionRésumé : (auteur) The complexity and diversity of buildings make it challenging to extract low-level and high-level features with strong feature representation by using deep neural networks in building extraction tasks. Meanwhile, deep neural network-based methods have many network parameters, which take up a lot of memory and time in training and testing. We propose a novel fully convolutional neural network called the Context Feature Enhancement Network (CFENet) to address these issues. CFENet comprises three modules: the spatial fusion module, the focus enhancement module, and the feature decoder module. First, the spatial fusion module aggregates the spatial information of low-level features to obtain buildings’ outline and edge information. Secondly, the focus enhancement module fully aggregates the semantic information of high-level features to filter the information of building-related attribute categories. Finally, the feature decoder module decodes the output of the above two modules to segment the buildings more accurately. In a series of experiments on the WHU Building Dataset and the Massachusetts Building Dataset, our CFENet balances efficiency and accuracy compared to the other four methods we compared, and achieves optimality on all five evaluation metrics: PA, PC, F1, IoU, and FWIoU. This indicates that CFENet can effectively enhance and fuse buildings’ low-level and high-level features, improving building extraction accuracy.
