[Termes IGN] viticultureRésumé : (auteur) Plants diseases constitute a substantial threat for farmers given the high economic and environmental impact of their treatment. Detecting possible pathogen threats in plants based on non-destructive remote sensing and computer vision methods offers an alternative to existing laboratory methods and leads to improved crop management. Vine is an important crop that is mainly affected by fungal diseases. In this study, photos from healthy leaves and leaves infected by a fungal disease of vine are used to create disease identification classifiers. The transfer learning technique was employed in this study and was used to train three different deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) approaches that were compared according to their classification accuracy, namely AlexNet, VGG-19, and Inception v3. The above-mentioned models were trained on the open-source PlantVillage dataset using two training approaches: feature extraction, where the weights of the base deep neural network model were frozen and only the ones on the newly added layers were updated, and fine tuning, where the weights of the base model were also updated during training. Then, the created models were validated on the PlantVillage dataset and retrained using a custom field-grown vine photo dataset. The results showed that the fine-tuning approach showed better validation and testing accuracy, for all DCNNs, compared to the feature extraction approach. As far as the results of DCNNs are concerned, the Inception v3 algorithm outperformed VGG-19 and AlexNet in almost all the cases, demonstrating a validation performance of 100% for the fine-tuned strategy on the PlantVillage dataset and an accuracy of 83.3% for the respective strategy on a custom vine disease use case dataset, while AlexNet achieved 87.5% validation and 66.7% accuracy for the respective scenarios. Regarding VGG-19, the validation performance reached 100%, with an accuracy of 76.7%. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) In this study, a new hybridized machine learning algorithm for urban flood susceptibility mapping, named MultiB-MLPNN, was developed using a multi-boosting technique and MLPNN. The model was tested in Amol City, Iran, a data-scarce city in an ungauged area which is prone to severe flood inundation events and currently lacks flood prevention infrastructure. Performance of the hybridized model was compared with that of a standalone MLPNN model, random forest and boosted regression trees. Area under the curve, efficiency, true skill statistic, Matthews correlation coefficient, misclassification rate, sensitivity and specificity were used to evaluate model performance. In validation, the MultiB-MLPNN model showed the best predictive performance. The hybridized MultiB-MLPNN model is thus useful for generating realistic flood susceptibility maps for data-scarce urban areas. The maps can be used to develop risk-reduction measures to protect urban areas from devastating floods, particularly where available data are insufficient to support physically based hydrological or hydraulic models. The present research evaluated efficacy of a hybrid model integrating Support Vector Machine with Whale optimization algorithm (SVM-WOA) for predicting SSC at Sundargarh and Salebhata stations in Mahanadi River, India. Various quantitative statistical evaluation constrains are applied to evacuate the model performance. Also, model performance of SVM-WOA is compared with SVM-PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) and conventional SVM and RBFN (Radial Basis Function Network) models. The results reveal that, SVM-WOA performed superiorly in comparison to SVM-PSO, SVM and RBFN models for five different input scenarios during both training and testing phases. Hence, it is recommended to apply SVM-WOA as an appropriate technique for hydrological simulation at the basin. [Termes IGN] toitRésumé : (auteur) Roof plane segmentation is an essential step in the process of 3D building reconstruction from airborne laser scanning (ALS) point clouds. The existing approaches either rely on human intervention to select the appropriate input parameters for different data-sets or they are not automatic and efficient. To tackle these issues, an improved multi-task pointwise network is proposed to simultaneously segment instances (that is, individual roof planes) and semantics (that is, groups of roof planes with similar geometric shapes) in point clouds. PointNet++ is used as a backbone network to extract robust features in the first step. The features from semantics branch are then added to the instance branch to facilitate the learning of instance embeddings. After that, a feature fusion module is added to the semantics branch to acquire more discriminative features from the backbone network. To increase the accuracy of semantic predictions, fused semantic features of the points belonging to the same instance are aggregated together. Finally, a mean-shift clustering algorithm is employed on instance embeddings to produce the instance predictions. Furthermore, a new roof data-set (called RoofNTNU) is established by taking ALS point clouds as training data for automatic and more general segmentation. Experiments on the new roof data-set show that the method achieves promising segmentation results: the mean precision (mPrec) of 96.2% for the instance segmentation task and mean accuracy (mAcc) of 94.4% for the semantic segmentation task. [Termes IGN] réflectanceRésumé : (auteur) Accurate charting of nearshore bathymetry is critical to the safe and dependable use of coastal waterways frequented by the trading, fishing, tourism, and ocean energy industries. The accessibility of satellite imagery and the availability of various satellite-derived bathymetry (SDB) techniques have provided a cost-effective alternative to traditional in-situ bathymetric surveys. Furthermore, improved algorithms and the advancement of machine learning models have provided opportunity for higher quality bathymetric derivations. However, to date the relative accuracy and performance between traditional physics-based techniques, improved physics-based methods, and machine learning ensemble models have not been adequately quantified. In this study, nearshore bathymetry is derived from Sentinel-2 satellite imagery near La Parguera, Puerto Rico utilizing a traditional band-ratio algorithm, a band-ratio switching method, a random forest machine learning model, and the XGBoost machine learning model. The machine learning models returned comparable results and were markedly more accurate relative to other techniques; however, both machine learning models required an extensive training dataset. All models were constrained by environmental influences and image spatial resolution, which were assessed to be the limiting factors for routine use of satellite-derived bathymetry as a reliable method for hydrographic surveying.
