[Termes IGN] service web géographiqueRésumé : (éditeur) The Association of Geographic Information Laboratories for Europe (AGILE) was established in early 1998 to promote academic teaching and research on GIS at the European level. AGILE seeks to ensure that the views of the geographic information teaching and research community are fully represented in the discussions that take place on future European - search agendas and it also provides a permanent scientific forum where geographic information researchers can meet and exchange ideas and - periences at the European level. In 2007 AGILE provided - for the first time since its existence - a book constituting a collection of scientific papers that were submitted as full papers to the annual AGILE conference and went through a competitive and thorough review process. [Termes IGN] radargrammétrieRésumé : (Auteur) The Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) was flown in February 2000 to map the world's land mass with high accuracy, using two Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems. Spaceborne single-pass across-track SAR interferometry was used for the first time. The mechanical configuration of the interferometer formed both an across-track and a small along-track baseline between the antennas in the cargo bay of the space shuttle and at the tip of the deployable boom. SAR Along-Track Interferometry (ATI) is sensitive to ground motion and was recently proposed for traffic monitoring applications. Due to the along-track baseline, SRTM data currently offer the unique opportunity to study the effects of moving objects on high-resolution spaceborne SAR ATI data. This paper presents an analysis of moving vehicles in SRTM/X-SAR ATI data as well as application examples, and describes specific SAR processing techniques for vehicle detection and velocity measurement. [Termes IGN] trafic routierRésumé : (Auteur) The recent transition from analog to totally digital data acquisition and processing techniques in airborne surveying represents a major milestone in the evolution of spatial information science and practice. On one hand, the improved quality of the primary sensor data can provide the foundation for better automation of the information extraction processes. This phenomenon is also strongly supported by continuously expanding computer technology, which offers almost unlimited processing power. On the other hand, the variety of the data, including rich information content and better temporal characteristics, acquired by the new digital sensors and coupled with rapidly advancing processing techniques, is broadening the applications of airborne surveying. One of these new application areas is traffic flow extraction aimed at supporting better traffic monitoring and management. Transportation mapping has always represented a significant segment of civilian mapping and is mainly concerned with road corridor mapping for design and engineering purposes, infrastructure mapping and facility management, and more recently, environmental mapping. In all these cases, the objective of the mapping is to extract the static features of the object space, such as man-made and natural objects, typically along the road network. In contrast, the traffic moving in the transportation network represents a very dynamic environment, which complicates the spatial data extraction processes as the signals of moving vehicles should be identified and removed. Rather than removing and discarding the signals, however, they can be turned into traffic flow information. This paper reviews initial research efforts to extract traffic flow information from laserscanner and digital camera sensors installed in airborne platforms. [Termes IGN] requête spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) With the rapid advancements in positioning technologies such as the Global Positioning System (GPS) and wireless communications, the tracking of continuously moving objects has become more convenient. However, this development poses new challenges to database technology since maintaining up-to-date information regarding the location of moving objects incurs an enormous amount of updates. Existing indexes can no longer keep up with the high update rate while providing speedy retrieval at the same time. This study aims to improve k nearest neighbor (kNN) query performance while reducing update costs. Our approach is based on an important observation that queries usually occur around certain places or spatial landmarks of interest, called reference points. We propose the Reference-Point-based tree (RP-tree), which is a two-layer index structure that indexes moving objects according to reference points. Experimental results show that the RP-tree achieves significant improvement over the TPR-tree. [Termes IGN] trafic routierRésumé : (Auteur) Road extraction and vehicle detection are two of the most important steps of traffic flow analysis from multi-frame aerial photographs. The traditional way of deriving traffic flow trajectories relies on manual vehicle counting from a sequence of aerial photographs. It is tedious and time-consuming work. To improve this process, this research presents a new semi-automatic framework for highway extraction and vehicle detection from aerial photographs. The basis of the new framework is a geometric deformable model. This model refers to the minimization of an objective function that connects the optimization problem with the propagation of regular curves. Utilizing implicit representation of two-dimensional curve, the implementation of this model is capable of dealing with topological changes during curve deformation process and the output is independent of the position of the initial curves. A seed point propagation framework is designed and implemented. This framework incorporates highway extraction, tracking, and linking into one procedure. Manually selected seed points can be automatically propagated throughout a whole highway network. During the process, road center points are also extracted, which introduces a search direction for solving possible blocking problems. This new framework has been successfully applied to highway network extraction and vehicle detection from a large orthophoto mosaic. In this research, vehicles on the extracted highway network were detected with an 83% success rate.
