[Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (Auteur) Recent advances in wireless sensor networks and positioning technologies have boosted new applications that manage moving objects. In such applications, a dynamic index is often built to expedite evaluation of spatial queries. However, the development of efficient indexes is a challenge due to frequent object movement. In this paper, we propose a new update-efficient index method for moving objects in road networks. We introduce a dynamic data structure, called adaptive unit, to group neighboring objects with similar movement patterns. To reduce updates, an adaptive unit captures the movement bounds of the objects based on a prediction method, which considers road-network constraints and the stochastic traffic behavior. A spatial index (e.g., R-tree) for the road network is then built over the adaptive unit structures. Simulation experiments, carried on two different datasets, show that an adaptive-unit based index is efficient for both updating and querying performances. [Termes IGN] requête spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) We address the problem of optimizing the maintenance of continuous queries in Moving Objects Databases, when a set of pending continuous queries need to be reevaluated as a result of bulk updates to the trajectories of moving objects. Such bulk updates may happen when traffic abnormalities, e.g., accidents or road works, affect a subset of trajectories in the corresponding regions, throughout the duration of these abnormalities. The updates to the trajectories may in turn affect the correctness of the answer sets for the pending continuous queries in much larger geographic areas. We present a comprehensive set of techniques, both static and dynamic, for improving the performance of reevaluating the continuous queries in response to the bulk updates. The static techniques correspond to specifying the values for the various semantic dimensions of trigger execution. The dynamic techniques include an in-memory shared reevaluation algorithm, extending query indexing to queries described by trajectories and query reevaluation ordering based on space-filling curves. We have completely implemented our system prototype on top of an existing Object-Relational Database Management System, Oracle 9i, and conducted extensive experimental evaluations using realistic data sets to demonstrate the validity of our approach. [Termes IGN] PostgreSQLRésumé : (Auteur) This paper discusses extensions of GAP-trees from three aspects and its implementation based on non-topological structure in order to enhance access to large vector data sets. First of all, we apply cartographic generalization rules to build a generalization procedure of the GAP-tree, which makes coarse representations more consistent with human cognition. Second, we replace the three-dimensional (pseudo-) Reactive-tree index with a 2D R-tree index and a B-tree index to improve the system efficiency. Finally, we compress a binary GAP-tree into multi-way GAP-trees in order to reduce data redundancy. The shallower multi-way GAP-trees not only eliminate redundant data but also accelerate the system's response time. The extensions have been successfully implemented in PostgreSQL. A test of Beijing's land-use data at the 1:10 000 scale demonstrates that the extended GAP-trees are efficient, compact, and easy to implement. Note de contenu : 1 TRAVAIL PRÉPARATOIRE
