[Termes IGN] surface concaveRésumé : (Auteur) Critical keylines, such as concave and convex edges of a building façade, can be lost in photogrammetric recognition procedures. To solve this problem and to reconstruct quasi-planar 3D façades automatically and precisely, a set of algorithms and techniques for the automatic recognition of lines and 3D reconstruction is proposed. This includes: (1) a procedure for line-segment matching that satisfies the spatial requirements of a 3D scene based on “global independence” and “local dependence”; (2) a technique of generalised point bundle block adjustment combined with spatial line constraints (in the form of virtual observations) to control the propagation of error; and (3) the methods of perceptual organisation, plane fitting and plane–plane intersection are suggested to acquire the critical keylines corresponding to concave and convex building edges. Experimental results show that these new algorithms are feasible and applicable to recognition and 3D reconstruction. Recommendations for recognition methods are provided depending on whether or not a priori topological relationships are available between the planes under consideration. Ideally, such movements should be around the main axis as designed so that, in the absence of loads, the tower stands exactly vertical. However, raft settlement, concrete shortening and construction tolerances cause deviations. The authors adopted the core wall control survey method to drive the new headquarters of the National Bank of Kuwait - a 300m-tall building - in the vertical direction with millimetre accuracy. The method uses GNSS CORS technology. This is for the first time that signais from the available BeiDou GNSS satellites have been used to assist construction of tall buildings. [Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (Auteur) This article presents the first results concerning the development and implementation of a tool for the estimation of the energy performance for residential buildings at city scale. Space heating and domestic hot water production are taken into account. Project “EnerCity” focuses on two main topics: (a) the creation of a CityGML-compliant 3D city model from sub-optimal datasets and (b) its adoption as information hub to develop energy-related assessment tools. A part of the city of Trento, in northern Italy, was chosen as the case study area for testing purposes; however, the methodology was developed to be extended to the whole city. Only publicly available data were used. The energy demand calculation method is based on the Italian Technical Specifications UNI/TS 11300:2008. For each building, the primary energy demand for space heating and domestic hot water production, as well as the resulting energy performance index, are estimated. In order to characterise the buildings, heterogeneous datasets (cadastral data, statistical data, etc.) were harmonised and integrated. All residential buildings were successively classified into distinct building types according to the criteria defined for Italy in the European project “Tabula”. The developed tool allows for data visualisation, editing as well as interactive refurbishment of the buildings. The article describes all relevant steps of the project and discusses possible enhancements and the future improvements. [Termes IGN] SlovénieRésumé : (Auteur) Physical 3D maps have a fine history in cartography, but they require the highest level of craftsmanship and artistic talent from a cartographer. However, 3D printing technology can simplify production of 3D maps. This technology saves time and enables multiple reproduction of the same map, without painstaking manual labour. Nonetheless, to produce a high-quality 3D map, cartographers must use well-established cartographic principles and techniques. This paper describes the creation of a physical 3D map of the Planica Nordic Center. The main purpose of the map is to promote and clarify future development of the sports centre and to show its final infrastructure and landscaping. This paper describes the data, technology, and design decisions used in making the map. It also discusses the cartographic principles and techniques used in the making of the map, and the lessons learned. Vertical images were taken with a fixed wing and oblique images with a multirotor. Data capture faced two major challenges: the weather and steeply rising cliffs. Working in the winter, in windy and gloomy conditions, proved tricky for obtaining sharp and vivid images so the use of high-quality cameras was a must. In contrast, the legal limitations were modest.
