[Termes IGN] web 2.0Résumé : (auteur) Volunteered geographical information (VGI) refers to geographical information that the general public voluntarily collects and shares in the environment instead of for-profit businesses or government entities. Crowdsourcing such information on urgent needs in a disaster can improve the quick emergency responses. This study incorporates the capability of smartphone sensors, GPS, Web 2.0, VGI, and server-based technologies to design and develop a system for collecting target hazard information from volunteers. One of the most important contributions in designing this system is considering the improvement of the positional accuracy of the target buildings based on the position of the mobile device. Several approaches have been recommended for this purpose. The solutions include the use of online map services, geocoding services, and trigonometric methods based on the measurements of sensors such as camera, accelerometer, and magnetic field embedded in a smart mobile phone. The accuracy assessment showed that the trigonometric method by the means of embedded sensors would yield the best result. However, geocoding is more economical in terms of time than other methods. Potentially, the evaluation of the mobile application provided by a group of volunteers showed the overwhelming preference of crowdsource mapping over current telephone communication systems in disaster management. [Termes IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (auteur) Quantifying aspects of urban design on a massive scale is crucial to help develop a deeper understanding of urban designs elements that contribute to the success of a public space. In this study, we further develop the Street-Frontage-Net (SFN), a convolutional neural network (CNN) that can successfully evaluate the quality of street frontage as either being active (frontage containing windows and doors) or blank (frontage containing walls, fences and garages). Small-scale studies have indicated that the more active the frontage, the livelier and safer a street feels. However, collecting the city-level data necessary to evaluate street frontage quality is costly. The SFN model uses a deep CNN to classify the frontage of a street. This study expands on the previous research via five experiments. We find robust results in classifying frontage quality for an out-of-sample test set that achieves an accuracy of up to 92.0%. We also find active frontages in a neighbourhood has a significant link with increased house prices. Lastly, we find that active frontage is associated with more scenicness compared to blank frontage. While further research is needed, the results indicate the great potential for using deep learning methods in geographic information extraction and urban design. Scanning systems have a minimum and maximum range in which they operate, depending on the technical characteristics. Scanning below or above these limits results in gross errors and registering of incorrect data. Laser scanners can have difficulties with certain materials such as marble and reflective surfaces. This paper presents the results of laser scanning of a complex monument of cultural and historical heritage using two different types of terrestrial laser scanners. Afterwards, the comparison and analysis of the results are shown. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (auteur) Building-information-modeling for cultural heritage (HBIM), which is established using surveying data, can be used to conserve architectural heritage. The development of an HBIM model for ancient wooden architecture (AWA) structures requires interdisciplinary integration. A parametric model for the main components that intelligently integrates the historical knowledge, as well as an intelligent modeling method for these components, are two critical issues required to bridge the existing gap and improve the application of HBIM. Taking an AWA structure constructed during the Liao and Song Dynasties as an example, the parametric model for the typical components, with emphasis on commonality and characteristics, were first proposed. Subsequently, an intelligent automated modeling method was developed and programmed using Dynamo, which can intelligently identify the component type and determine the invisible dimensions. A complicated dou-gong was successfully established with surveying data using the proposed method within five minutes, thereby validating the reliability and efficiency of this method. Furthermore, the proposed method was used to establish the HBIM model of Yingxian Wood Pagoda, which is the oldest and tallest AWA structure in China with a height of 65.88 m. The research findings will provide an essential reference for the conservation of wooden architectural heritage structures.
