[Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (auteur) Spatial conflicts may occur when map data are displayed at a scale smaller than that of the source map. This study applies the displacement operator in cartographic generalization to resolve such spatial conflicts and to improve the clarity and legibility of map. The immune genetic algorithm (IGA) is used in this study for buildings displacement to solve conflicts. IGA is based on the genetic algorithm (GA) and employs the self-adjusting mechanism of antibody concentration to enhance population diversity. Meanwhile, the elitism retention strategy is adopted in IGA to guarantee that the best individual (antibody) is not lost and destroyed in the next generation to strengthen convergence efficiency. The compared experiment between IGA and GA shows that the displacement result produced by IGA performs better than GA. Finally, in order to make the displaced map more attractive to cartographers, two constraints – the building alignment constraint and building tangent relation constraint – are applied in IGA to restrict the buildings’ displacement. The same experimental data are adopted to prove that the improved IGA is useful for maintaining the two constraints. [Termes IGN] plan-reliefRésumé : (auteur) The goal of this article is to analyse several aspects of the construction of a unique project in cartography: the three-dimensional model of the city of Cadiz constructed between 1777 and 1779. Cadiz was the most important fortification in Spain at the time. We focus on new investigations of the two documentary sources relating to the construction of this maquette, or relief map, which hitherto have not been studied in conjunction. This approach facilitates an elucidation of the details of the production of the relief map that benefits from improved knowledge regarding materials, tools, construction techniques and the cost of preparing the model. Additionally, new conclusions are drawn regarding the true utility of maquettes at court and the possible causes of the sudden cancellation of this military project. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (auteur) The authors have developed a novel system framework for a historic preservation system utilising open standards and open source tools. The framework enables the integration of open standard 3D models and GIS in a virtual environment (VE). It also allows the storage and harvesting of data via an open source web-based central repository. The framework is designed for bi-directional interoperability when utilised for monument tracking, preservation, conservation, re-excavation, etc. To date, no such system framework exists for the development and management of historic monuments using open standards e57 for terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) data, the industry foundation classes (IFC) for 3D semantic rich models, and CityGML for integrating IFC and GIS in a VE. The web-based VE is accessed from the BimServer and envisaged for monitoring monument erosion, movement, and damage to monuments by human activity or nature, collaboration between different industry actors to share knowledge, experience, and expertise globally, etc.

[Termes IGN] templeRésumé : (auteur) Terrestrial laser scanning technology is nowadays more and more used for the documentation of cultural heritage monuments. The thorough exploitation of the main advantage of terrestrial laser scanners (TLS) that is the acquisition of extremely dense discrete points in a relatively small time period leads to detailed 3D representation of the monument, overcoming possible difficulties such as limited accessibility. Most often, this 3D representation is used for the monument's documentation as well as for virtual tours in, out or around it. This detailed documentation can be used for one more purpose: the estimation of the deformation that its elements have experienced through the centuries and, following, the monument's restoration, provided that, its' initial, constructional geometry is known. In this paper, research towards this goal is presented, dealing with the estimation of the deformations of a column of the ancient temple of Zeus in Nemea Greece using TLS technology. This column is standing erect since the temple's construction in 330 BC and it has been subject to serious deformations because of various causes. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (auteur) We propose a novel approach for semantic segmentation of building facades. Our system consists of three distinct layers, representing different levels of abstraction in facade images: segments, objects and architectural elements. In the first layer, the facade is segmented into regions, each of which is assigned a probability distribution over semantic classes. We evaluate different state-of-the-art segmentation and classification strategies to obtain the initial probabilistic semantic labeling. In the second layer, we investigate the performance of different object detectors and show the benefit of using such detectors to improve our initial labeling. The generic approaches of the first two layers are then specialized for the task of facade labeling in the third layer. There, we incorporate additional meta-knowledge in the form of weak architectural principles, which enforces architectural plausibility and consistency on the final reconstruction. Rigorous tests performed on two existing datasets of building facades demonstrate that we outperform the current state of the art, even when using outputs from lower layers of the pipeline. Finally, we demonstrate how the output of the highest layer can be used to create a procedural building reconstruction.
