[Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) Facade features represent segmentations of building surfaces and can serve as a building framework. Extracting facade features from three-dimensional (3D) point cloud data (3D PCD) is an efficient method for 3D building modeling. By combining the advantages of 3D PCD and two-dimensional optical images, this study describes the creation of a highly accurate building facade feature extraction method from 3D PCD with a focus on structural information. The new extraction method involves three major steps: image feature extraction, exploration of the mapping method between the image features and 3D PCD, and optimization of the initial 3D PCD facade features considering structural information. Results show that the new method can extract the 3D PCD facade features of buildings more accurately and continuously. The new method is validated using a case study. In addition, the effectiveness of the new method is demonstrated by comparing it with the range image-extraction method and the optical image-extraction method in the absence of structural information. The 3D PCD facade features extracted by the new method can be applied in many fields, such as 3D building modeling and building information modeling. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) Heritage buildings traditionally have been tackled from several points of view: architectonic features, architectural style, archaeology, history, etc. Documents derived from those studies were classified and put together to form the documentation for consultation, taking decisions about its conservation, and restoration. Such a document organisation has some inconveniences: objects composing the building were treated as isolated objects not related to its adjacent objects. Nowadays technology may help to discover the relationship between architectural objects forming heritage buildings. The tool that makes it possible to include functionality in architectural objects is BIM (Building Information Modelling). In this paper, the historical evolution of Saint Jeromés Church in Baza will be analysed and stored in a functional model which includes geometry and its current state. We propose a procedure for building the BIM through its historical roots and evolution to be included in each remarkable object modelled from the point cloud surveyed. [Termes IGN] toitRésumé : (Auteur) As the rate of urbanization continues to accelerate, the utilization of solar energy in buildings plays an increasingly important role in sustainable urban development. For this purpose, we propose a LiDAR-based joint approach for calculating the solar irradiance incident on roofs and façades of buildings at city scale, which includes a methodology for calculating solar irradiance, the validation of the proposed method, and analysis of its application. The calculation of surface irradiance on buildings may then inform photovoltaic power generation simulations, architectural design, and urban energy planning. Application analyses of the proposed method in the experiment area found that: (1) Global and direct irradiations vary significantly by hour, day, month and season, both following the same trends; however, diffuse irradiance essentially remains unchanged over time. (2) Roof irradiation, but not façade irradiation, displays distinct time-dependent patterns. (3) Global and direct irradiations on roofs are highly correlated with roof aspect and slope, with high global and direct irradiations observed on roofs of aspect 100–250° and slopes of 0–60°, whereas diffuse irradiation on roofs is only affected by roof slope. (4) The façade of a building receives higher levels of global and direct irradiations if facing southeast, south, and southwest; however, diffuse irradiation remains constant regardless of façade orientation. [Termes IGN] programmation dynamiqueRésumé : (auteur) Detecting repetitive structures on building facades plays an important role in facade image analysis. Observing that repetitions are usually horizontally and vertically aligned, and thereby can be localized by the horizontal and vertical lines passing along the repetition boundaries, we propose to detect repetitions by extracting these fiducial lines. Firstly, candidate lines are detected, containing both the fiducial lines and some mistaken lines passing across facade wall or repetitive structures. Secondly, to pick out the fiducial lines, we formulate a maximum a posterior problem to measure the probabilities that the lines can localize the repetitions. Finally, a dynamic programming based algorithm is developed to solve the problem efficiently. To evaluate the proposed approach, we implement a series of experiments on a dataset containing 60 facade images as well as the public Ecole Central Paris facade dataset. Both qualitative and quantitative results demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach.
