[Termes IGN] traitement automatique de donnéesRésumé : (auteur) The specifications of a topographical database, like those national mapping agencies produce, contain a lot of information about the data, which is needed to correctly and precisely interpret their meaning. This information, which is not present in the raw data model, is in particular crucial to data interoperability and geographical database integration. But the specifications are huge text-based documents which are ill-suited to automatic processing. In particular, it is quite difficult for the time being to do an accurate comparison of two specification sets. This article addresses this problem by defining a method to represent these specifications in a formal and unified way. The main idea of it consists in defining a model of real ground entities and linking it to the actual data model of the database. Specifications are seen, in object-oriented terms, as relationships between a class of real ground entities and one or several classes of database objects. [Termes IGN] service de géoinformationRésumé : (Auteur) E-business is emerging in the market for Geographic Information (GI). Mostly, offered products are data and some technical services, which do not match the demand of business customers. They require complex GI-solutions, which integrate human services, e.g. consulting, software adaptation, and training. We suggest electronic GI marketplaces for enabling GI service chains integrating technical human servies. The implentation of technical services in an internet business platform requires an ontology-based semantic description language. The most advanced language is OWL-S (formely DAML-S). The implementation of human services in internet based-service chains also requires semantics. This paper will demonstrate by a typical business scenario, that 1- OWL-S fulfills the requirements of a semantic enabling web description for human services and 2- integration of human and technical GI services in an internet-based service chain can be implemented by the common language OWL-S and thus enhancing GI business by connecting customers and providers. Incorporating both mobile communication and spatial data, these applications represent a novel challenge both conceptually and technically.
The purpose of this book is to describe, in an accessible fashion, the various concepts underlying mobile location-based services. These range from general application-related ideas to technical aspects. Each chapter starts with a high level of abstraction and drills down to the technical details. Contributors examine each application from all necessary perspectives, namely, requirements, services, data, and scalability. An illustrative example begins early in the book and runs throughout, serving as a reference.Note de contenu : Introduction / Jochen Schiller and Agnès Voisard

[Termes IGN] service de géoinformationRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we propose a user-centric and evolution-oriented understanding of spatial data infrastructures (SDI) as an alternative to contemporary SDI definitions. This novel perspective induces a set of SDI implications, which in turn shed additional light upon the research agenda. In this context, we refer to dynamic chaining of geographic information (GI)-services, semantic interoperability of GI-services, the user need for spatial decision support services, as well as security and commercial marketing issues. We conclude that these topics will constitute the crucial SDI research directions in the future.
