[Termes IGN] segmentation sémantiqueRésumé : (auteur) This paper introduces a multi-modal network that learns to retrieve by content vertical aerial images of French urban and rural territories taken about 15 years apart. This means it should be invariant against a big range of changes as the (nat-ural) landscape evolves over time. It leverages the original images and semantically segmented and labeled regions. The core of the method is a Siamese network that learns to extract features from corresponding image pairs across time. These descriptors are discriminative enough, such that a simple kNN classifier on top, suffices as final geo-matching criteria. The method outperformed SOTA "off-the-shelf" image descrip-tors GEM and ResNet50 on the new aerial images dataset. [Termes IGN] recherche d'image basée sur le contenuRésumé : (auteur) It is our great pleasure to welcome you to SUMAC 2020, the 2nd edition of the ACM workshop on Structuring and Understanding of Multimedia heritAge Contents. The digitization of large quantities of analogue data and the massive production of born-digital documents for many years now provide us with large volumes of varied multimedia data (images, maps, text, video, multi-sensor data, etc.), an important feature of which is that they are cross-domain. "Cross-domain" reflects the fact that these data may have been acquired in very different conditions: different acquisition systems, times and points of view (e.g. a 1962 postcard from the Arc de Triomphe vs. a recent street-view acquisition by mobile mapping of the same monument). These data represent an extremely rich heritage that can be exploited in a wide variety of fields, from SSH to land use and territorial policies, including smart city, urban planning, tourism, creative media and entertainment.
In terms of research in computer science, they address challenging problems related to the diversity and volume of the media across time, the variety of content descriptors (potentially including the time dimension), the veracity of the data, and the different user needs with respect to engaging with this rich material and the extraction of value out of the data. These challenges are reflected in research topics such as multimodal and mixed media search, automatic content analysis, multimedia linking and recommendation, and big data analysis and visualization, where scientific bottlenecks may be exacerbated by the time dimension, which also provides topics of interest such as multimodal time series analysis.Numéro de notice : 17631 Affiliation des auteurs : UGE-LASTIG+Ext (2020- ) Thématique : IMAGERIE/INFORMATIQUE Nature : Actes nature-HAL : DirectOuvrColl/Actes DOI : 10.1145/3423323 En ligne : https://dl.acm.org/doi/proceedings/10.1145/3423323 Format de la ressource électronique : URL Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=97086 Challenging deep image descriptors for retrieval in heterogeneous iconographic collections / Dimitri Gominski (2019)

[Termes IGN] recherche d'image basée sur le contenuRésumé : (auteur) This article proposes to study the behavior of recent and efficient state-of-the-art deep-learning based image descriptors for content-based image retrieval, facing a panel of complex variations appearing in heterogeneous image datasets, in particular in cultural collections that may involve multi-source, multi-date and multi-view contents. For this purpose, we introduce a novel dataset, namely Alegoria dataset, consisting of 12,952 iconographic contents representing landscapes of the French territory, and encapsultating a large range of intra-class variations of appearance which were finely labelled. Six deep features (DELF, NetVLAD, GeM, MAC, RMAC, SPoC) and a hand-crafted local descriptor (ORB) are evaluated against these variations. Their performance are discussed, with the objective of providing the reader with research directions for improving image description techniques dedicated to complex heterogeneous datasets that are now increasingly present in topical applications targeting heritage valorization. [Termes IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (auteur) We propose a new approach for outdoor large scale image based localization that can deal with challenging scenarios like cross-season, cross-weather, day/night and longterm localization. The key component of our method is a new learned global image descriptor, that can effectively benefit from scene geometry information during training. At test time, our system is capable of inferring the depth map related to the query image and use it to increase localization accuracy. We are able to increase recall@1 performances by 2.15% on cross-weather and long-term localization scenario and by 4.24% points on a challenging winter/summer localization sequence versus state-of-the-art methods. Our method can also use weakly annotated data to localize night images across a reference dataset of daytime images. [Termes IGN] thesaurusRésumé : (Auteur) In geographic information science, semantic relatedness is important for Geographic Information Retrieval (GIR), Linked Geospatial Data, geoparsing, and geo-semantics. But computing the semantic similarity/relatedness of geographic terminology is still an urgent issue to tackle. The thesaurus is a ubiquitous and sophisticated knowledge representation tool existing in various domains. In this article, we combined the generic lexical database (WordNet or HowNet) with the Thesaurus for Geographic Science and proposed a thesaurus–lexical relatedness measure (TLRM) to compute the semantic relatedness of geographic terminology. This measure quantified the relationship between terminologies, interlinked the discrete term trees by using the generic lexical database, and realized the semantic relatedness computation of any two terminologies in the thesaurus. The TLRM was evaluated on a new relatedness baseline, namely, the Geo-Terminology Relatedness Dataset (GTRD) which was built by us, and the TLRM obtained a relatively high cognitive plausibility. Finally, we applied the TLRM on a geospatial data sharing portal to support data retrieval. The application results of the 30 most frequently used queries of the portal demonstrated that using TLRM could improve the recall of geospatial data retrieval in most situations and rank the retrieval results by the matching scores between the query of users and the geospatial dataset.
