[Termes IGN] signalisation routièreRésumé : (Auteur) Lane-based road network information, such as lane geometry, destination, lane changing, and turning information, is important in vehicle navigation, driving assistance system, and autonomous driving. Such information, when available, is mainly input manually. However, manual methods for creating and updating data are not only costly but also time-consuming, labor-intensive, and prone to long delays. This paper proposes a hierarchical polygonization method for automatic generation and updating of lane-level road network data for navigation from a road marking database that is managed by government transport department created by digitizing or extraction from aerial images. The proposed method extends the hierarchy of a road structure from ‘road–carriageway–lane’ to ‘road–carriageway–lane–basic lane’. Basic lane polygons are constructed from longitudinal road markings, and their associated navigational attributes, such as turning information and speed limit, are obtained from transverse road markings by a feature-in-polygon overlay approach. A hierarchical road network model and detailed algorithms are also illustrated in this paper. The proposed method can accelerate the process of generating and updating lane-level navigation information and can be an important component of a road marking information system for road management. [Termes IGN] web mappingRésumé : (auteur) The scope of the paper is to test if the online dynamic maps such as the OpenStreetMap (OSM) can be used for official mapping projects such as Cadastre, to investigate the advantages and the concerns of online and open to the public procedures and to identify those differentiations between experts and amateurs that play a critical role in such official projects. The specific research is focused on the use of OSM in urban areas as an alternative method to the official cadastral surveys. This paper presents the possibilities and the perspectives of OSM for spatial and attribute cadastral data collection and storage for the compilation of draft cadastral maps as an alternative methodology within the terms of the volunteered geographic information (VGI). The authors carried out a practical experiment in an extended part of the historic city centre of Athens and updated the online dynamic map of OSM with attribute and spatial cadastral data. Surveying students explored the capacities of the dynamic map in two steps: (a) in a section where the polygons of the buildings already existed on the map, they had to improve it with attribute data, and (b) in another section where no relevant polygons existed, a spatial and attribute data enhancement was required. The research was based on the various approaches that each student adopted and the freedom that the OSM offers to the users. The results show that users can easily distinguish the differences in capacities between the OSM and the commercial software; the inexpensive, easy to use and quick methodology of the OSM in contrast to the accurate, authoritative and assured methodology of the commercial software. [Termes IGN] tunnelRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a method of optimization of the underground network for the construction of the Belgrade metro. In the process of optimization, the method of preanalysis was used. The theoretical basis of the mathematical model of the preanalysis is given, which is based on Gauß-Markov model of geodetic networks adjustment, as well as the theoretical basis for calculating the tunnel breakthrough precision. Based on the construction standards, the calculation of the required breakthrough precision was made, as the fundamental criterion of precision for the development of the underground tunnel network. Depending on the technical parameters of the Belgrade Metro Line 1 alignment, related to the position of the axis and the longitudinal profile of the tunnel, the design of the underground tunnel network was defined. In the process of optimization, different plans of observations were analyzed, as well as the results obtained from the preanalysis for each plan individually. Based on the set criterion of maximum transverse error of the tunnel breakthrough, which is 4.5 cm,the third plan of observations was adopted as the final plan,by which the breakthrough error of 3.5 cm was achieved. The adopted plan of observations includes planned measurements of horizontal directions, azimuths, and distances, with the assumed standard deviation of 1" for horizontal directions,3.2 " for azimuths, and (1 mm; 1 ppm) for distances. In this paper the problem of registering aerial images with lidar point clouds in desert areas is addressed. Compared with urban areas, registration in desert regions is difficult due to the lack of man-made features which are typically used in traditional methods. However, sand ridges can be used as registration primitives. Firstly, sand-ridge information is extracted from both the aerial image and the lidar point cloud. Secondly, by extending the iterative closest point (ICP) approach, a perspective-ICP algorithm is proposed that achieves data registration through matching sand ridges. To automatically deal with outliers, an adaptive weighting strategy is adopted. Experiments and assessment using data from Dunhuang, Gobi Desert, China, demonstrate that the method can achieve efficient and reliable registration for desert areas.
