In this study, we demonstrate the capability of BDS and the benefit of multi-GNSS for real-time capturing seismic waveforms using the combined high-rate BDS + GPS + GLONASS data collected during the 2017 Mw 6.5 Jiuzhaigou earthquake. For this event, we found that the displacements, derived from BDS precise point positioning (PPP) are better than that of Global Positioning System-only (GPS) results, especially in the east and vertical components with improvements of 43% and 23%. While the velocity waveforms from BDS present a comparable performance with GPS. the multi-GNSS fusion can significantly improve the accuracy by 47%, 55%, and 28% in the east, north, and vertical components compared with GPS-only results. The BDS and multi-GNSS derived displacement waveforms agree quite well with those obtained from integrating the acceleration, with accuracy at the millimeter level. In addition, the theoretical permanent displacement field calculated from a finite-fault slip model is selected as an independent reference, and the differences between GNSS derived permanent displacements and theoretical permanent displacements are mostly less than 1 mm. Therefore, we conclude that the BDS and multi-GNSS fusion can significantly contribute to the real-time capture of accurate seismic waveforms and that it has the potential to benefit for earthquake early warning and rapid geohazard assessment. [Termes IGN] zone semi-arideRésumé : (éditeur) Evapotranspiration (ET) is a critical component of the water and energy balances, and the number of remote sensing-based ET products and estimation methods has increased in recent years. Various aspects of remote sensing of ET are reported in the 11 papers published in this book. The major research areas covered by this book include inter-comparison and performance evaluation of widely used one- and two-source energy balance models, a new dual-source model (Soil Plant Atmosphere and Remote Sensing Evapotranspiration, SPARSE), and a process-based model (ETMonitor); assessment of multi-source (e.g., remote sensing, reanalysis, and land surface model) ET products; development or improvement of data fusion frameworks to predict continuous daily ET at a high spatial resolution (field-scale or 30 m) by fusing the advanced spaceborne thermal emission reflectance radiometer (ASTER), the moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS), and Landsat data; and investigating uncertainties in ET estimates using an ET ensemble composed of several land surface models and diagnostic datasets. The effects of the differences between ET products on water resources and ecosystem management were also investigated. More accurate ET estimates and improved understanding of remotely sensed ET products are crucial for maximizing crop productivity while minimizing water losses and management costs. [Termes IGN] vitesse de déplacementRésumé : (Editeur) Precipitation is a well-recognized pillar in global water and energy balances. An accurate and timely understanding of its characteristics at the global, regional, and local scales is indispensable for a clearer understanding of the mechanisms underlying the Earth’s atmosphere–ocean complex system. Precipitation is one of the elements that is documented to be greatly affected by climate change. In its various forms, precipitation comprises a primary source of freshwater, which is vital for the sustainability of almost all human activities. Its socio-economic significance is fundamental in managing this natural resource effectively, in applications ranging from irrigation to industrial and household usage. Remote sensing of precipitation is pursued through a broad spectrum of continuously enriched and upgraded instrumentation, embracing sensors which can be ground-based (e.g., weather radars), satellite-borne (e.g., passive or active space-borne sensors), underwater (e.g., hydrophones), aerial, or ship-borne. This is a book to provide in-depth explorations of the numerical methods developed to better understand atmospheric systems, which are introduced in eight chapters. Chapter 1 presents an efficient algorithm for tropical cyclone center determination by using satellite imagery. Chapter 2 aims to identify atmospheric systems with a new polarization remote sensing method. Chapters 3-8 place emphasis on enhancing the performance of numerical models in the prediction of atmospheric systems that should be valuable for researchers and forecasters. Note de contenu : 1.
