[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper a least squares-based method is proposed for adjusting the boundaries of area objects in a GIS that is designed particularly for solving inconsistencies between the areas of digitized and registered land parcels. The principle of this approach is taking the size of the registered area of a land parcel as its true value and to adjust the geometric position of the boundaries of the digitized parcel. First, a generic area adjustment model is derived by incorporating the following two categories of constraints: (a) attribute constraint: the size of the true area of the parcel, and (b) geometric constraints: such as, straight lines, right angles and certain distances. Second, the methods used to adjust the areas of the parcels for different cases are presented. Third, the implementation of the proposed model is illustrated using several case studies. The results of the application and the corresponding analysis demonstrate that the proposed approach is able to maintain a consistency between the areas of the digitized and registered parcels. This study has solved one of the most critical problems in developing a land/cadastral information system, and this solution has been adopted in the processing of real world cadastral data in Shanghai and other cities in China. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Geological structures on remotely sensed images, Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) images in this case, can be classified by quantitative depth information on the basis of the comparison of results from Landsat TM images and geophysical data. Although the lineaments with different depths can be visually interpreted together on Landsat TM images, the depth information and geological significance of these lineaments are however hard to obtain solely from the Landsat TM images of a study area under a thick cover, and it is of much importance for hydrocarbon exploration in the Western Slope Belt of Songliao Basin, northeast China. During the present study, the 3-dimensional field source information, including location and depth information, is derived from 3dimensional Euler deconvolution of gravity data in particular. As an example, it may be quantitatively classified into four groups of depth range: 1000m. It is then superimposed onto the lineaments map from Landsat TM images using a geographical information system (GIS). With a comprehensive analysis of the superimposed maps, we obtain validation and quantitative depth information of the geological structures delineated on the Landsat TM images. Four depth-layered maps of geological structures with different depths are presented here. It is concluded that the number of structures with depth greater than 1000 m on the Landsat TM images is fewer than those at the other three depth ranges. The detection of geological structures on Landsat TM images attributed to depth information derived from the geophysical data may also be possible by this approach. The assessment of land development is important for minimizing development impacts and formulating alternative development plans. Much attention has been paid to the quantity of land use changes in general development assessment using remote sensing. However, additional information can be obtained from remote sensing and GIS for revealing land use problems more effectively. This paper presents four indicators, quantity, quality, location, and morphology to characterize land development patterns for fast-growing regions. A four-component efficiency index is further developed for ranking purposes to reflect economic and environmental considerations. The implementation of the method has been demonstrated in a fast-growing region in south China. Efforts have been made to verify the model with independent empirical data. [Termes IGN] simulationRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a new method to discover knowledge for geographical cellular automata (CA) by using a data-mining technique. CA have the ability to simulate complex geographical phenomena. Very few studies have been carried out on how to determine and validate the transition rules of CA from observed data. The transition rules of traditional CA are usually expressed by mathematical equations. This paper demonstrates that the explicit transition rules of CA can be automatically reconstructed through the rule induction procedure of data mining. The explicit transition rules are more intuitive to decision-makers. The transition rules are obtained by applying data-mining techniques to spatial data. The proposed method can reduce the uncertainties in defining transition rules and help to generate more reliable simulation results.
