[Termes IGN] trajectographie (positionnement)Résumé : (Auteur) In repeat-pass synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry, the aproximations, allowing the phase-to-eight conversion, prevent high-resolution mapped relief. In this paper, we present a more general and exact formulation giving a new relationship between the interferogram phase and the target height. It is based on the interferometric SAR geometry and on a better expansion of the path length difference between the sensor and the target. This formulation emphasizes the impact of baseline uncertainties on digital elevation model (DEM) accuracy. A quantitative assessment of the required baseline accuracy is computed. The impact of orbital parameters, used in the new formulation, on interferogram generation is studied. Thus, a new simulator algorithm is developed and tested on a set of reference and simulated DEM examples. Examples of interferogram simulation and DEM generation validate this new approach in the case of a mountainous area in Mustang (Nepal). [Termes IGN] NépalRésumé : (Auteur) The potential of multi-temporal Landsat Thematic Mapper (TM) data was examined for its use in detecting areas affected by flood and erosion from a heavy rainfall. The study area is the Kulekhani watershed (124 km') located in the central region of Nepal. Four change-detection techniques were compared for their effectiveness including (1) Spectral Image Differencing (SID), (2) Tasseled Cap Brightness Image Differencing (TCBID), (3) Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and (4) Spectral Change Vector Analysis (SCVA). SID was performed on four raw bands (bands 1, 2, 3, and 7), and altogether seven new images (change images) were produced.
Visible bands were effective in detecting affected areas. SCVA (using bands 1, 2, and 3) was found to be most accurate for detecting areas affected by flood and erosion followed by SID (band 2), PCA (using bands 1, 2, and 3), SID (band 1), and SID (band 3). The change image produced from SCVA showed overall and Khat accuracies of 88.3 percent and 75.4 percent, respectively. The analysis of spatial agreement conducted among the seven change images, produced from different techniques, varied from 89 percent to 98 percent. The change image produced from SCVA showed high spatial agreements with change images produced from PCA, SID (band 3), and SID (band 2). SGVA and SID (band 3) showed the spatial agreement of 88.1 percent and 98.7 percent in the change and no-change categories, respectively.Numéro de notice : A2002-028 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article DOI : sans En ligne : https://www.asprs.org/wp-content/uploads/pers/2002journal/march/2002_mar_233-239 [...] Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=21945

[Termes IGN] tectoniqueRésumé : (Auteur) We use geodetic techniques to study the India-Eurasia collision zone. Six years of GPS data constrain maximum surface contraction rates across the Nepal Himalaya to 18 + 2 mm/yr at 12°N +13° (1ó). These surface rates across the 150-km-wide deforming zone are well fitted with a dislocation model of a buried north dipping detachment fault striking 105°, which aseismically slips at a rate of 20 + 1 mm/yr, our preferred estimate for the India-to-southern-Tibet convergence rate. This is in good agreement with various geologic predictions of 18 + 7 mm/yr for the Himalaya. A better fit can be achieved with a two-fault model, where the western and eastern faults strike 112° and 101°, respectively, in approximate parallelism with the Himalayan arc and a seismicity lineament. We find eastward directed extension of 11 + 3 mm/yr between northwestern Nepal Lhasa, also in good agreement with geologic and seismic studies across the southern Tibetan plateau. Continuous GPS sites are used to further constrain the style and rates of deformation throughout the collision zone. Sites in India, Uzbekistan, and Russia agree within error with plate model prediction.
