[Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationMots-clés libres : automated generalisation rule revision trial and error strategy Résumé : (auteur) Automating the generalisation process, a major issue for national mapping agencies, is extremely complex. Several works have proposed to deal with this complexity using a trial and error strategy. The performance of systems based on such a strategy is directly dependent on the quality of the control knowledge (i.e. heuristics) used to guide the trials. Unfortunately, most of the time, the definition and updation of knowledge is a fastidious task. In this context, automatic knowledge revision can not only improve the performance of the generalisation, but also allow it to automatically adapt to various usages and evolve when new elements are introduced. In this article, an offline knowledge revision approach is proposed, based on a logging of the system and on the analysis of outcoming logs. This approach is dedicated to the revision of control knowledge expressed by production rules. We have implemented and tested this approach for the automated generalisation of groups of buildings within a generalisation model called AGENT, from initial data that reference a scale of approximately 1:15,000 compared with the target map's scale of 1:50,000. The results show that our approach improves the quality of the control knowledge and thus the performance of the system. Moreover, the approach proposed is generic and can be applied to other systems based on a trial and error strategy, dedicated to generalisation or not. [Termes IGN] toitRésumé : (Auteur) This paper integrates light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data and topographic maps and predicts the quality of 3D building model reconstruction. In this paper, the tensor voting algorithm and a region-growing method are adopted to extract building roof planes and structural lines from LiDAR data, and a robust least squares method is applied to register LiDAR data with building outlines obtained from topographic maps. The minimal square sum of the separations of the most peripheral points to building outlines is adopted as the criterion for determining the transformation parameters in order to improve the efficiency of data fusion. After registration, a novel quality indicator of data fusion based on the tensor analysis of residuals is derived in order to evaluate the quality of the automatic reconstruction of 3D building models. Finally, an actual LiDAR data set and its corresponding topographic map demonstrate the fusion procedure and the quality of the predictions related to automatic model reconstruction. [Termes IGN] web mappingRésumé : (Auteur) Nowadays, the amount of geographic data is permanently increasing. One key issue to take advantage of these data is to be able to evaluate their fitness for use and their complexity. We describe in this paper a system enabling a user to discover the content of geographic databases based on a formalization of their specifications, i.e. enabling the user to discover which entities of interest are represented in a given database, and how they are represented. The system uses a global 'domain' ontology describing the topographic real world entities, which can be queried by the user to express his/her needs. Some local (or application) ontologies are used to formalize the content of database specifications. They are annotated with concepts from the global ontology. The described system is implemented as a web application and includes a web mapping solution for the visualization of data samples.
