[Termes IGN] perturbation orbitaleRésumé : (auteur) Satellite attitude modes and antenna phase center variations have a great influence on the Precise Orbit Determination (POD) of Low Earth Orbit satellites (LEOs). Inaccurate information about spacecraft attitude, phase center offsets and variations in the POD leads to orbital error. The Jason-3 satellite experienced complex attitude modes which are fixed, sinusoidal, ramp-up/down and yaw-flip. Therefore, it is necessary to properly construct the attitude model in the process of POD especially when there is no external attitude data. For the antenna phase center correction, the PCO which is the deviation between Antenna Reference Point (ARP) and Mean Antenna Phase Center (MAPC) usually can be calibrated on the ground accurately, but the PCV which is the deviation between Instantaneous Antenna Phase Center (IAPC) and Mean Antenna Phase Center (MAPC) will change greatly with the change of space environment. Residual approach can be used to estimate the receiver PCV map. In this paper, we collected the on-board GPS data of Jason-3 satellite from January 2019 and analyzed the impacts of PCV and spacecraft attitude on the orbit accuracy by performing the reduced-dynamic POD. Compared with the reference orbit released by the Centre National d’Études Spatiales (CNES), using the PCV map can reduce the Root Mean Square (RMS) of orbit differences in the Radial (R), Along-track (T), Cross-track (N) and 3D direction about 0.3, 1.0, 0.9, and 1.4 mm. Based on the estimated PCV map, the orbit accuracy in R, T, N and 3D direction is 1.24, 2.81, 1.17, and 3.29 cm respectively by using the measured attitude data. When using the attitude model, the orbit accuracy in R, T, N and 3D directions is 1.60, 3.54, 1.33, and 4.13 cm, respectively. The results showed that the combination of measured attitude data and modeled PCV map can obtain the better orbit solution. It is essential to build a corresponding model in high-precision orbit determination, when there is no attitude data and PCV map. [Termes IGN] teneur totale en électronsRésumé : (auteur) Atmospheric mass density (AMD) plays a vital role in the drag calculation for space objects in low Earth orbit. Many empirical AMD models have been developed and used for orbit prediction and efforts continue to improve their accuracy in forecasting high-altitude atmospheric conditions. Previous studies have assessed these models at the height of 200 km to 600 km. In this paper, four state-of-the-art AMD models, i.e., MSISE90, MSISE00, JB2008 and DTM2013 are assessed for their orbit prediction (OP) capabilities by using a new data source of COSMIC satellite ephemerides at an orbital height of ~800 km, where the contribution of ions in the total AMD is more significant. A new testing model was developed by accounting for ion contribution based on the International Reference Ionosphere 2016 model, including many more ion species that are not accounted for in other AMD models. In the assessment, two periods of forty days were chosen in 2014-2015 and 2018-2019, representing solar maximum and minimum periods, respectively, to assess four existing AMD models and the proposed model. Thorough analyses were conducted to compare OP results using different AMD models with precise reference ephemerides of COSMIC satellites and based on various space weather indices. It is shown that the proposed model outperforms all other AMD models in terms of OP errors during the solar maximum period. During solar minimum, the drag acceleration is relatively small for COSMIC satellites. Assessment of all AMD models in the orbit prediction process tends to be contaminated by the remaining uncertainty sources, such as solar radiation pressure. [Termes IGN] modèle stochastiqueRésumé : (auteur) Efficient Variance Component Estimation (VCE) is significant to optimal data combination in large-scale least-squares problems as those encountered in satellite geodesy, where millions of observations are jointly processed to estimate a huge number of unknown parameters. In this paper, an efficient VCE algorithm with rigorous trace calculation is proposed based on the local–global parameters partition scheme in satellite geodesy, which is directly applicable to both the simplified yet common case where local parameters are unique to a single observation group and the generalized case where local parameters are shared by different groups of observations. Moreover, the Monte-Carlo VCE (MCVCE) algorithm, based on the stochastic trace estimation technique, is further extended in this paper to the generalized case. Two numerical simulation cases are investigated for gravity field model recovery to evaluate both the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed algorithm and the extended MCVCE algorithm in terms of trace calculation. Compared to the conventional algorithm, the relative trace calculation errors in the efficient algorithm are all negligibly below 10–7%, while in the MCVCE algorithm they can vary from 0.6 to 37% depending on the number of adopted random vector realizations and the specific applications. The efficient algorithm can achieve computational time reduction rates above 96% compared to the conventional algorithm for all gravity field model sizes considered in the paper. In the MCVCE algorithm, however, the time reduction rates can change from 61 to 99% for different implementations.
