[Termes IGN] trajet (mobilité)Résumé : (Auteur) Understanding the spatiotemporal dynamics of urban population is crucial for addressing a wide range of urban planning and management issues. Aggregated geospatial big data have been widely used to quantitatively estimate population distribution at fine spatial scales over a given time period. However, it is still a challenge to estimate population density at a fine temporal resolution over a large geographical space, mainly due to the temporal asynchrony of population movement and the challenges to acquiring a complete individual movement record. In this article, we propose a method to estimate hourly population density by examining the time‐series individual trajectories, which were reconstructed from call detail records using BP neural networks. We first used BP neural networks to predict the positions of mobile phone users at an hourly interval and then estimated the hourly population density using log‐linear regression at the cell tower level. The estimated population density is linearly correlated with population census data at the sub‐district level. Trajectory clustering results show five distinct diurnal dynamic patterns of population movement in the study area, revealing spatially explicit characteristics of the diurnal commuting flows, though the driving forces of the flows need further investigation. [Termes IGN] source de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Land cover mapping plays an important role for a wide spectrum of applications that are ranging from climate modeling to food security. However, it is a common case that several and partially conflicting land cover products are available at the same time over a same area, where each product suffers from specific limitations and lack of accuracy. In order to take advantage of the best features of each product while at the same time attenuating their respective weaknesses, this paper is proposing a methodology that allows the user to combine these products together based on a general framework involving maximum entropy/minimum divergence principles, Bayesian data fusion and Bayesian updating. First, information brought by each land cover product is coded in terms of inequality constraints so that a first estimation of their quality can be computed based on a maximum entropy/minimum divergence principle. Information from these various land cover products can then be fused afterwards in a Bayesian framework, leading to a single map with an associated measure of uncertainty. Finally, it is shown how the additional information brought by control data can help improving this fused map through a Bayesian updating procedure. The first part of the paper is briefly presenting the most important theoretical results, while the second part is illustrating the use of this suggested approach for a specific area in Belgium, where five different land cover products are at hand. The benefits and limitations of this approach are finally discussed by the light of the results for this case study. [Termes IGN] PologneRésumé : (auteur) The knowledge on forest resources is important for sustainable forest management at local and national level. The aim of this paper is to examine the efficacy of the Support Vector Machine (SVM) approach for tree cover mapping based on Sentinel-2 images and to explore the potential of the Sentinel-2 data for the assessment of tree cover. Sentinel-2 is a constellation of two European satellites providing innovative wide-swath (up to 290 km), high-resolution and multispectral data (13 spectral bands at 10, 20 and 60 m spatial resolution). The study area is located in the Forest Promotion Complex, which is a part of the Knyszyn Forest Landscape Park in Poland. The SVM classification was performed on the single images (spring and summer season) and on multi-date Sentinel-2 images (images from two dates classified simultaneously). In addition, the use of high-resolution bands and a combination of the 10 m and 20 m spatial resolution data was examined. The overall accuracy for all performed classification was very high and reached the level of 96.7%–99.6%, which con-firms that SVM classification can be successfully applied for tree cover mapping. The analysis showed that the Sentinel-2 images acquired in the middle of the vegetation season, when the leaves are fully developed are more suitable for tree cover mapping than the images acquired in spring.
