[Termes IGN] processusRésumé : (Auteur) The development of interoperable environmental process models is widely supported by both the research community and government agencies. This paper discusses a conceptual framework to guide the delineation of process components, the basic unit of interoperable models. The concepts of semantic reference system and dual hierarchy are explored to establish the conceptual framework. Based on this discussion, the Formal Concept Analysis is used as an analytical approach to decompose and fuse existing environmental process models in order to identify environmental process components. For purposes of discussion, a hydrological process, surface runoff, is used throughout the paper as an example of an environmental process to support the conceptual discussion and to illustrate the application of the conceptual framework and analytical approach. [Termes IGN] prise en compte du contexteRésumé : (Auteur) Human interactions with geographical information are contextualized by problem-solving activities which endow meaning to geospatial data and processing. However, existing spatial data models have not taken this aspect of semantics into account. This paper extends spatial data semantics to include not only the contents and schemas, but also the contexts of their use. We specify such a semantic model in terms of three related components: activity-centric context representation, contextualized ontology space, and context mediated semantic exchange. Contextualization of spatial data semantics allows the same underlying data to take multiple semantic forms, and disambiguate spatial concepts based on localized contexts. We demonstrate how such a semantic model supports contextualized interpretation of vague spatial concepts during human–GIS interactions. We employ conversational dialogue as the mechanism to perform collaborative diagnosis of context and to coordinate sharing of meaning across agents and data sources. [Termes IGN] modèle sémantique de donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Information retrieval and intelligent search among heterogeneous data sources still continue to be challenging tasks. In this study, an attributed relational graph was employed to model the semantic information of heterogeneous geodata sources. Based on the attributed relational graphs, probabilistic relaxation was employed for pattern matching between different data sources. The initial probability and compatibility coefficients were calculated based on the combined evidence from semi-structured geodata sources and the characteristics of discrete and categorical variables. Experiments on automatic pattern matching were carried out and the results demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed approach in element mapping between heterogeneous data sources.
