[Termes IGN] tachéomètre électronique robotiséRésumé : (auteur) A robust geodetic framework comprising Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Robotic Total Station (RTS) and Multi-temporal InSAR (MT-InSAR) was employed first in India to investigate a landslide-prone Sirobagarh region, Uttarakhand, at different spatial extents, and to evaluate the relationship amongst the displacement estimates obtained from the applied surveying techniques. TLS derived digital elevation models indicated displacements >5 m on the landslide upper scarp. GNSS- and RTS-based observations showed horizontal movements towards the Alaknanda river in the landslide slope direction (maximum values: 0.1305 and 0.045 m, respectively), and downward vertical motion (largest subsidence magnitude: −2.1315 and −0.030 m, respectively). MT-InSAR processing of Sentinel-1a images identified 21071 measurement pixels, highlighting subsidence around the landslide (mean velocity range: −0.110 to 0.008 m/year). Analysis of displacement vectors using vector equality, cross-covariance, cross-correlation and principal component analysis reveals that GNSS vertical displacement estimates were partially correlated with MT-InSAR measurements (correlated for epoch difference 2–3), whereas there was good cross-correlation between MT-InSAR and LiDAR observations throughout. The displacement estimates and their analyses evident unstable movement of the landslide scarp occurring due to debris flow and rainfall, and a relatively moderate subsidence activity in the surrounding areas lying in the landslide zone. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) Gully erosion is one of the main processes of soil degradation, representing 50%–90% of total erosion at basin scales. Thus, its precise characterization has received growing attention in recent years. Geomatics techniques, mainly photogrammetry and LiDAR, can support the quantitative analysis of gully development. This paper deals with the application of these techniques using aerial photographs and airborne LiDAR data available from public database servers to identify and quantify gully erosion through a long period (1980–2016) in an area of 7.5 km2 in olive groves. Several historical flights (1980, 1996, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2016) were aligned in a common coordinate reference system with the LiDAR point cloud, and then, digital surface models (DSMs) and orthophotographs were obtained. Next, the analysis of the DSM of differences (DoDs) allowed the identification of gullies, the calculation of the affected areas as well as the estimation of height differences and volumes between models. These analyses result in an average depletion of 0.50 m and volume loss of 85000 m3 in the gully area, with some periods (2009–2011 and 2011–2013) showing rates of 10,000–20,000 m3/year (20–40 t/ha*year). The manual edition of DSMs in order to obtain digital elevation models (DTMs) in a detailed sector has facilitated an analysis of the influence of this operation on the erosion calculations, finding that it is not significant except in gully areas with a very steep shape. [Termes IGN] variation saisonnièreRésumé : (auteur) Research on vegetation variation is an important aspect of global warming studies. The quantification of the relationship between vegetation change and climate change has become a central topic and challenge in current global change studies. The source region of the Yellow River (SRYR) is an appropriate area to study global change because of its unique natural conditions and vulnerable terrestrial ecosystem. Therefore, we chose the SRYR for a case study to determine the driving forces behind vegetation variation under global warming. Using the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and climate data, we investigated the NDVI variation in the growing season in the region from 1998 to 2016 and its response to climate change based on trend analysis, the Mann–Kendall trend test and partial correlation analysis. Finally, an NDVI–climate mathematical model was built to predict the NDVI trends from 2020 to 2038. The results indicated the following: (1) over the past 19 years, the NDVI showed an increasing trend, with a growth rate of 0.00204/a. There was an upward trend in NDVI over 71.40% of the region. (2) Both the precipitation and temperature in the growing season showed upward trends over the last 19 years. NDVI was positively correlated with precipitation and temperature. The areas with significant relationships with precipitation covered 31.01% of the region, while those with significant relationships with temperature covered 56.40%. The sensitivity of the NDVI to temperature was higher than that to precipitation. Over half (56.58%) of the areas were found to exhibit negative impacts of human activities on the NDVI. (3) According to the simulation, the NDVI will increase slightly over the next 19 years, with a linear tendency of 0.00096/a. From the perspective of spatiotemporal changes, we combined the past and future variations in vegetation, which could adequately reflect the long-term vegetation trends. The results provide a theoretical basis and reference for the sustainable development of the natural environment and a response to vegetation change under the background of climate change in the study area. [Termes IGN] températureRésumé : (auteur) Glacial melt water is the key source for various socio-industrial and domestic activities in the Himalayas. Several recent studies suggest that glaciers are experiencing rapid melt. The glaciers health can be best assessed by mass balance. However, the mass balance investigations using in-situ methods for a large sample of glaciers are highly difficult in the Himalaya. Hence, remote sensing methods and modelling techniques are preferred. However, there is a lack of information on uncertainties associated with these methods in assessing the regional scale mass balance. Hence, these methods are applied to evaluate the regional scale mass budget of Baspa basin, Western Himalaya between 2000 and 2011. The total mass loss estimated using geodetic method amounts to −0.49 ± 0.1 gigatons, temperature index method to −0.43 ± 0.012 gigatons and AAR method to −0.36 ± 0.1 gigatons. Furthermore, this study highlights the limitations of these methods in mass loss evaluation in data scarce Himalayan regions. [Vedettes matières IGN] Végétation et changement climatiqueRésumé : (auteur) Key message: Past demographic changes and current selection pressures determine the genetic variation displayed by Nothofagus species along rainfall gradients. Based on the diversity trends observed at candidate genes associated to drought stress, we inferred a differential species’ adaptive potential.
Context: Clinal genetic variation in natural populations could reflect either recent demographic history or the evolution of adapted genotypes along heterogeneous environments.
Aims: We describe genetic variation patterns in three Nothofagus species of South American temperate forests, growing along steep rainfall gradients. Our hypothesis is that the selection pressure along this gradient reinforces the genetic structure previously shaped by Pleistocene climate oscillations.
Methods: We screened variation along gradients at putative adaptive markers: candidate genes involved in response to drought, and EST-SSRs linked to drought stress genes. Genomic SSRs (gSSRs) were used to decouple the incidence of demographic events in the genetic structure.
Results: Genetic diversity at SSRs agreed with the putative location of cryptic Pleistocene refugia in Nothofagus. In addition, each species showed different trends for nucleotide diversity at candidate genes. Unbiased heterozygosity significantly correlated with precipitation at EST-SSRs in Nothofagus nervosa. We found evidences of balancing selection and several SNPs departed from neutral expectations.
Conclusions: Nothofagus genetic variability shows a strong imprint of demographic changes that reveals refugia location for the species during Pleistocene. This variability is modelled by environmental conditions across natural gradients, which impose selection pressure at genome regions related to stress response, providing clues about inter-specific differences in adaptive potential to water deficit.Numéro de notice : A2020-032 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : FORET Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1007/s13595-019-0908-x Date de publication en ligne : 10/01/2020 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1007/s13595-019-0908-x Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=94489
