L'exportation de leurs données au format CityGML permet d'augmenter le niveau de détail mais aussi de texturer automatiquement ces modèles. A partir d'un MNT et de données topographiques au format DGN à l'échelle 1:1000, une chaîne de processus automatise la structuration du modèle 3D conformément aux exigences du format CityGML et de la directive INSPIRE. Cette chaîne est développée à l'aide du logiciel FME. Le relief est triangulé et représenté sur le modèle. Les bâtiments sont modélisés suivant le principe de Boundary Representation, par agrégation de leurs surfaces limites. Les toits et le relief sont texturés avec une orthophotographie vraie de la zone étudiée. Cependant, ne disposant pas d'image des façades, celles-ci sont habillées de textures synthétiques. Le résultat obtenu est donc une chaîne de processus permettant d'obtenir automatiquement, à partir des données topographiques ICC au format DGN, un modèle 3D représentant le terrain et les bâtiments, de manière précise et texturée par une orthophotographie vraie. Afin d obtenir un résultat satisfaisant en termes de plans et de coupes, il est indispensable de modéliser convenablement les divers nuages de points obtenus par le scanner laser 3D. Des algorithmes de reconnaissance de formes peuvent donc être utilisés, à travers des logiciels comme PointCloud, ou encore PointSense Plant développés par la société Kubit. L idée proposée ici consiste à ajuster un modèle CAO sur le nuage de points, pour obtenir un modèle cohérent sur Autocad. D une efficacité impressionnante dans le domaine industriel, notamment en ce qui concerne la reconnaissance de tuyauteries, ce traitement peut servir de base lors d une inspection en trois dimensions d un ouvrage (bac de stockage, plafond en effondrement, tuyaux ayant subis des chocs, ). De cette manière, on peut aisément obtenir une comparaison entre un modèle TQC (Tel Que Construit, issu de la reconnaissance de formes sous Kubit) et un modèle TQS (Tel Que Saisi), constitué du nuage de points brut (maillé ou non) obtenu par le scanner.
