[Termes IGN] triangulation de DelaunayRésumé : (Auteur) Aggregation for spatial objects plays an important role in database or model generalization in GI since reducing spatial complexity is one of the major aims of model generalization. The aggregation operation can be considered as a geometrical operation under the control of semantic and spatial relation of objects. The process of spatial object aggregation is the process of spatial, semantic analyzing, decision-making and the implementation of operation. This process needs not only the geometric and thematic attributes of the objects, but also the spatial and semantic relationship among the objects. It also needs the supporting data structure and analyzing tools in order to make analyzing, decision-making and computation easy in aggregation process. There is still lack of studies on how data structure supports aggregation process and also lack of the method for semantic analysis in aggregation process. This paper is to focus methods and process of spatial aggregation based on semantic and geometric characteristics of spatial objects and relations among the object with the help of spatial data structure (Formal Data Structure), local constrained Delaunay triangulations and semantic hierarchy. The adjacent relation among connected objects an unconnected objects has been studied through constrained triangle as elementary processing unit aggregation operation. The hierarchical semantic analytical matrix is given for analyzing the similarity between object types and between objects (including different levels). It will govern and guide aggregation process. The several different cases of aggregation have been presented in this paper. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) This paper describes an integrated technique for the generalization of contour maps. The technique consists of an objective line generalization algorithm (Li-Openshaw algorithm) and an algorithm for the derivation of a new contour from two original neighbouring contours. The algorithms are implemented in such a way that they guarentee (a) no self-intersection within a line and no-crossintersection between lines ; (b) very smooth resultant contours and ; (c) very coherent relationship between resultant contour lines with very faithful shape to the original contours (at a larger scale). These conclusions have been supported by experimental tests. One of such tests was carried out through comparing the generalized results with the original contour lines and the other is through a comparison with a popular algorithm (Douglas-Peucker). [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) We examine some benefits of using the medial axis as a centerline for rivers and lakes . One benefit, automatic centerline generation, has been used for many years. We show that additionnal benefits can be derived from the geometric relationsships between the medial axis and the riverbanks or lakeshores. These include area estimates, association of centerline analysis to banks, and definition of opposite for riverbanks. We also report on our experience at approximating the medial axis with a Voronoi diagram of point sites.
