[Termes IGN] Web Feature ServiceRésumé : (Auteur) Current data sharing in the Internet environment is supported using metadata at the file level. This approach has three fundamental shortcomings. First, sharing data from different sources with different semantics, data models, and acquisition methods usually requires data conversion and/or integration like data conflation. This can be tedious and error-prone. Second, data updated from one source cannot be automatically propagated to other related data or applications. Finally, data sharing at the file level makes it difficult to provide feature-level data for searching, accessing, and exchanging in real time over the Internet. This paper addresses these three issues by proposing a standards-based framework for sharing geospatial data in the transportation application domain. The proposed framework uses a standard data model-geospatial data model proposed by the Geospatial One-Stop initiative to harmonize the semantics and data models without the use of data integration methods. It uses Geography Markup Language (GML) for geospatial data coding and feature relationship, which provides a basis to propagate the data update from one source to related other sources and applications, and to search and extract data at the feature level. The framework uses the Web Feature Service (WFS) to search, access and extract data at the feature level from distributed sources. Finally, the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) standard was used for data display on the Web browser. Two transportation network datasets are used in the prototype case study to implement the proposed framework. The prototype allows the user to access and extract data at the feature level on the Web from distributed sources without downloading the full data file. It shows that the proposed standards-based feature-level data-sharing system is capable of sharing data without data conflation, accessing, and exchanging data in real time at the feature level. The prototype also shows that changes in one database can be automatically reflected or propagated in another related database without data downloading. [Termes IGN] Tokyo (Japon)Résumé : (Auteur) The Vehicle-borne Laser Measurement System (VLMS) is a mobile mapping system where three single-row laser range scanners, six line CCD cameras, and a GPS/INS-based navigation unit are mounted on a van to measure object geometry and texture along a street. This paper contributes to a method of fusing the data output of VLMS with existing geographic data sources where the focus is on the rectification of the vehicle's motion data derived from GPS/INS, which may be quite erroneous in an urban area. An algorithm is developed to correct the four variables of the vehicle's motion data, i.e., x, y, and z coordinates of the vehicle position and yaw angle of orientation by registering the laser points of the VLMS with an existing data source, e.g., a DSM. The algorithm was examined using the VLMS data that were taken in the Ginza District, Tokyo. By manually assigning 18 sets of tie-points, the vehicle's motion data were corrected automatically and efficiently, such that the laser points of VLMS were matched to a DSM. In data fusion, a set of objects, which contained commercial signboards, traffic signs and signals, road boundaries, and road lights were extracted from the corrected VLMS data using an interface described in a previous paper. They were integrated with a 1:2500 3D map that consists of only building frames. In addition, line images from the VLMS were projected onto the building facades of the 3D Map, and textures were generated automatically. [Termes IGN] transformation en ondelettesRésumé : (Auteur) In the last few years, several researchers have proposed different procedures for the fusion of multispectral and panchromatic images based on the wavelet transform, which provide satisfactory high spatial resolution images keeping the spectral properties of the original multispectral data. The discrete approach of the wavelet transform can be performed with different algorithms, Mallat's and the 'à trous' being the most popular ones for image fusion purposes. Each algorithm has its particular mathematical properties and leads to different image decompositions. In this article, both algorithms are compared by the analysis of the spectral and spatial quality of the merged images which were obtained by applying several wavelet based, image fusion methods. All these have been used to merge Ikonos multispectral and panchromatic spatially degraded images. Comparison of the fused images is based on spectral and spatial characteristics and it is performed visually and quantitatively using statistical parameters and quantitative indexes. In spite of its a priori lower theoretical mathematical suitability to extract detail in a multiresolution scheme, the à trous' algorithm has worked out better than Mallat's algorithm for image merging purposes.
Note de contenu : 1. Cadre général
