[Termes IGN] trafic routierRésumé : (Auteur) Dans cet article, nous présentons une analyse spatiotemporelle des tournées de livraison à domicile d’une entreprise d’électroménagers qui détient sa propre flotte de véhicules. Plusieurs millions d’observations de géolocalisation GPS issues de ces tournées de livraison sont collectées, traitées et assignées au réseau routier. À la suite de ces analyses spatiotemporelles, nous développons des calendriers quotidiens d’indices de congestion en fonction de l’heure. Des ratios de congestion sectoriels sont calculés afin de déterminer les meilleures heures de départ de livraison tout en évitant la congestion routière. La réduction de la durée des trajets a été quantifiée en comparant les meilleures heures de départs par rapport aux heures habituelles. À partir des données de notre partenaire, les analyses démontrent une réduction potentielle de 22 % de la durée des routes de livraison. [Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (Auteur) The volunteered geographic information (VGI) collected in OpenStreetMap (OSM) has been used in many applications. Extracting multilane roads and establishing a high level of expressed detail play important roles in the field of automated cartographic generalization. An accurate and detailed extraction process benefits geographic analysis, urban region division, and road network construction, as well as transportation applications services. The road networks in OSM have a high level of detail and complex structures; however, they also include many duplicate lines, which degrade the efficiency and increase the difficulty of extracting multilane roads. To resolve these problems, this work proposes a machine‐learning‐based approach, in which the road networks are first converted from lines to polygons. Then, various geometric descriptors, including compactness, width, circularity, area, perimeter, complexity, parallelism, shape descriptor, and width‐to‐length ratio, are used to train a random forest (RF) classifier and identify the candidates. Finally, another RF is trained to evaluate the candidates using all the geometric descriptors and topological features; the outputs of this second trained RF are the predicted multilane roads. An experiment using OSM data from Beijing, China validated the proposed method, which achieves a highly effective performance when extracting multilane roads from OSM. [Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (Auteur) Virtual globes enable the combination of heterogeneous datasets for optimal routing analyses in transportation, environmental ecology, and construction engineering. In this study, considering the advantages of the hierarchical tiling structure and topography of virtual globes, we propose a tile‐based optimal routing method for large‐scale road networks in a virtual globe. This method designs a topographically preserved road‐network tile model by partitioning roads into tiles and constructs the road‐network pyramid from the bottom to the top. During construction, a TileArc is calculated and flagged as the shortest path in a tile. Based on the built road‐network pyramid carrying hierarchical TileArcs, a multi‐level and flexible shortest path query can be executed efficiently. The proposed method is implemented with large road networks with different road grades in a virtual globe. Experimental results verify its validity, efficiency, and exactness. Moreover, the length of the shortest path with surface distance is approximately 1.3 times longer than that with Euclidean distance. [Termes IGN] variogrammeRésumé : (auteur) Urban environments are restricted by various physical, regulatory and customary barriers such as buildings, one-way systems and pedestrian crossings. These features create challenges for predictive modelling in urban space, as most proximity-based models rely on Euclidean (straight line) distance metrics which, given restrictions within the urban landscape, do not fully capture spatial urban processes. Here, we argue that road distance and travel time provide effective alternatives, and we develop a new low-dimensional Euclidean distance metric based on these distances using an isomap approach. The purpose of this is to produce a valid covariance matrix for Kriging. Our primary methodological contribution is the derivation of two symmetric dissimilarity matrices (B+ and B2+), with which it is possible to compute low-dimensional Euclidean metrics for the production of a positive definite covariance matrix with commonly utilised kernels. This new method is implemented into a Kriging predictor to estimate house prices on 3,669 properties in Coventry, UK. We find that a metric estimating a combination of road distance and travel time, in both R2 and R3, produces a superior house price predictor compared with alternative state-of-the-art methods, that is, a standard Euclidean metric in RN and a non-restricted road distance metric in R2 and R3. [Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (Auteur) A better understanding of the relationship between the structure and functions of urban and suburban spaces is one of the avenues of research still open for geographical information science. The research presented in this paper develops several graph-based metrics whose objective is to characterize some local and global structural properties that reflect the way the overall building layout can be cross-related to the one of the road layout. Such structural properties are modeled as an aggregation of parcels, buildings, and road networks. We introduce several computational measures (Ratio Minimum Distance, Minimum Ratio Minimum Distance, and Metric Compactness) that respectively evaluate the capability for a given road to be connected with the whole road network. These measures reveal emerging sub-network structures and point out differences between less-connective and more-connective parts of the network. Based on these local and global properties derived from the topological and graph-based representation, and on building density metrics, this paper proposes an analysis of road and building layouts at different levels of granularity. The metrics developed are applied to a case study in which the derived properties reveal coherent as well as incoherent neighborhoods that illustrate the potential of the approach and the way buildings and roads can be relatively connected in a given urban environment. Overall, and by integrating the parcels and buildings layouts, this approach complements other previous and related works that mainly retain the configurational structure of the urban network as well as morphological studies whose focus is generally limited to the analysis of the building layout.
