[Termes IGN] Vegetation Health IndexRésumé : (Auteur) The continuous increase of heavy metal ions in the environment is imposing serious problems in agricultural yield and increases human health threats through accumulation in the food chain. Various studies have shown that heavy metals influence the metabolic processes and pigment concentrations in leaves, and thus affect the laser induced fluorescence (LIF) spectra. Leaf level in vivo LIF spectra using the 488 nm and 355 nm laser lines, fluorescence induction kinetics (FIK) using the 488 nm laser line, and photosynthetic pigments of the control and nickel treated wheat seedlings were measured. The peak parameters of the blue and UV-excited spectral bands were calculated by Gaussian curve fitting. The FIK measured at both the chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence bands was used to evaluate the fluorescence decrease ratio (R Fd). The variations in RFd and fluorescence ratios of intensities, bandwidth and band area, with varying concentrations of nickel, were revealed as promising parameters in determining the health status of wheat seedlings. These leaf level findings can be extended at canopy level in the field using laser based light detection and ranging (LIDAR) systems. [Termes IGN] topographie localeRésumé : (Auteur) Nowadays, mini UAV-systems receive more and more attention as photogrammetric image acquisition systems. Since mini UAVs are low cost systems, namely model helicopters or airplanes, the potential of various applications is very high. Therefore, in the paper a simplified workflow for photogrammetric processing of model helicopter imagery is described. Further on, two applications, which were conducted in the last two years at IGP (Institute of Geodesy and Photogrammetry), are presented in the paper. First the documentation of an archaeological site will be introduced and second a project dealing with the generation of an elevation model of a maize field is described. The results of the projects have shown that images taken with mini UAVs are well suited for an efficient documentation of small sites in a short time. [Termes IGN] variabilitéRésumé : (Auteur) A two-year study was conducted in 2002 and 2003 at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas's center for urban water conservation to assess canopy spectral response of annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) grown under various combinations of N and irrigation (based on leaching fraction: LF) treatments. Multispectral measurements were acquired using a ground-based spectroradiometer (200–1100 nm) on a biweekly basis during the growing season (October–May) in 2002 and 2003. Multispectral parameters were correlated with soil–plant parameters and temporal variability was investigated. Results showed that the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), stress index (SI), photochemical reflectance index (PRI) and canopy reflectance at 693 nm, were highly correlated with tissue N concentration (TN), tissue moisture content (TM), TN*TM and canopy colour, as influenced by N and LF treatment combinations. Coefficients of determination ranged from 0.50 to 0.79 (P Numéro de notice : A2006-462 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1080/01431160600851843 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1080/01431160600851843 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=28186

[Termes IGN] température de luminanceRésumé : (Auteur) Field experiments (SMEX02) were conducted to evaluate the effects of dense agricultural crop conditions on soil moisture retrieval using passive microwave remote sensing. Aircraft observations were collected using a new version of the Polarimetric Scanning Radiometer (PSR) that provided four C band and four X band frequencies. Observations were also available from the Aqua satellite Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR-E) at these same frequencies. SMEX02 was conducted over a three-week period during the summer near Ames, Iowa. Corn and soybeans dominate the region. During the study period the corn was approaching its peak water content state and the soybeans were at the mid point of the growth cycle. Aircraft observations are compared to ground observations. Subsequently models are developed to describe the effects of corn and soybeans on soil moisture retrieval. Multiple altitude aircraft brightness temperatures were compared to AMSR-E observations to understand brightness temperature scaling and provide validation. The X-band observations from the two sensors were in reasonable agreement. The AMSR-E C-band observations were contaminated with anthropogenic RFI, which made comparison to the PSR invalid. Aircraft data along with ancillary data were used in a retrieval algorithm to map soil moisture. The PSR estimated soil moisture retrievals on a field-by-field comparison had a standard error of estimate (SEE) of 5.5%. The error reduced when high altitude soil moisture estimates were aggregated to 25 km resolution (same as AMSR-E EASE grid product resolution) (SEE not, vert, similar 2.85%). These soil moisture products provide a validation of the AMSR retrievals. PSR/CX soil moisture images show spatial and temporal patterns consistent with meteorological and soil conditions. The dynamic range of the PSR/CX observations indicates that reasonable soil moisture estimates can be obtained from AMSR, even in areas of high vegetation biomass content (not, vert, similar 4–8 kg/m2). The study was carried out inan agricultural municipality located in the Middle Ebro valley, one of the most arid regions in Europe. The methodology proposed here has allowed the prediction of wheat and barley production in February, four months before harvest. Moreover, the predictive models created have explained 88% and 82% of the temporal variability of wheat and barley production respectively. This procedure could be every useful for managing crop production at a municipal level. Moreover, insurance companies could take advantage of the early prediction of crop losses, which are very frequent in this drought-affected area.
