[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueIndex. décimale : THESE Thèses et HDR Résumé : (auteur) De nombreuses applications SIG reposent sur des mesures de longueur ou de surface calculées à partir de la géométrie des objets d'une base de données géographiques (comme des calculs d'itinéraires routiers ou des cartes de densité de population par exemple). Cependant, aucune information relative à l'imprécision de ces mesures n'est aujourd'hui communiquée à l'utilisateur. En effet, la majorité des indicateurs de précision géométrique proposés porte sur les erreurs de positionnement des objets, mais pas sur les erreurs de mesure, pourtant très fréquentes. Dans ce contexte, ce travail de thèse cherche à mettre au point des méthodes d'estimation de l'imprécision des mesures géométriques de longueur et de surface, afin de renseigner un utilisateur dans une logique d'aide à la décision. Pour répondre à cet objectif, nous proposons un modèle permettant d'estimer les impacts de règles de représentation (projection cartographique, non-prise en compte du terrain, approximation polygonale des courbes) et de processus de production (erreur de pointé et généralisation cartographique) sur les mesures géométriques de longueur et de surface, en fonction des caractéristiques des données vectorielles évaluées et du terrain que ces données décrivent. Des méthodes d'acquisition des connaissances sur les données évaluées sont également proposées afin de faciliter le paramétrage du modèle par l'utilisateur. La combinaison des impacts pour produire une estimation globale de l'imprécision de mesure demeure un problème complexe et nous proposons des premières pistes de solutions pour encadrer au mieux cette erreur cumulée. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (Auteur) In this thesis, it is shown that combining contributions of different VLBI analysis centers, a so called intra-technique combination, improves the robustness and stability of the final VLBI results. For this purpose, a refined combination method has been developed which is in many theoretical and practical aspects superior to combination approaches currently used for comparable geodetic combination tasks. For example, datum-free normal equation systems are used as input, which ensure that the contributions are not deformed by any constraints at all, and the same underlying terrestrial reference frame can be applied during the combination process. Furthermore, a statistically rigorous variance component estimation approach for the relative weighting of the contributions is used. The combination process implies detailed comparisons and analyses of the individual ACs' contributions. From these, as one of the outcomes of this thesis, several systematic differences between the individual contributions were detected and eliminated. The adherence to standards was considerably improved. The combination process itself reduces the "analyst's noise" and damps the impact of outliers. Validations with independent results of other space-geodetic techniques confirm a benefit of up to 15% more accurate results than from individual solutions. Another aspect of this thesis is the general problem of any intra-technique combination, the correlations between the individual contributions. So far, the contributions of different ACs are always treated as independent data sets, although they have been derived from virtually the same set of original observations. It is shown that correlations between the individual ACs' contributions can be determined and rigorously taken in account during the combination process if the combination is performed directly on the level of the observation equations, instead on the level of normal equation systems. The main effect of considering these correlations is that the formal errors of the estimated combined parameters are considerably more realistic, but the parameters as such remain unchanged within their formal errors. [Termes IGN] positionnement par GPSRésumé : (Auteur) Although GNSS techniques are theoretically sensitive to the Earth center of mass, it is often preferable to remove intrinsic origin and scale information from the estimated station positions since they are known to be affected by systematic errors. This is usually done by estimating the parameters of a linearized similarity transformation which relates the quasi-instantaneous frames to a long-term frame such as the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF). It is well known that non-linear station motions can partially alias into these parameters. We discuss in this paper some procedures that may allow reducing these aliasing effects in the case of the GPS techniques. The options include the use of well-distributed sub-networks for the frame transformation estimation, the use of site loading corrections, a modification of the stochastic model by downweighting heights, or the joint estimation of the low degrees of the deformation field. We confirm that the standard approach consisting of estimating the transformation over the whole network is particularly harmful for the loading signals if the network is not well distributed. Downweighting the height component, using a uniform sub-network, or estimating the deformation field perform similarly in drastically reducing the amplitude of the aliasing effect. The application of these methods to reprocessed GPS terrestrial frames permits an assessment of the level of agreement between GPS and our loading model, which is found to be about 1.5 mm WRMS in height and 0.8 mm WRMS in the horizontal at the annual frequency. Aliased loading signals are not the main source of discrepancies between loading displacement models and GPS position time series.
