[Termes IGN] point d'appuiRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, the development and testing of an airborne fully digital multi-sensor system for digital mapping data acquisition is presented. The system acquires two streams of data, namely, navigation (georeferencing) data and imaging data. The navigation data are obtained by integrating an accurate strapdown inertial navigation system with a differential GPS system (DGPS). The imaging data are acquired by two low-cost digital cameras, configured in such a way so as to reduce their geometric limitations. The two cameras capture strips of overlapping nadir and oblique images. The GPS/INS-derived trajectory contains the full translational and rotational motion of the carrier aircraft. Thus, image exterior orientation information is extracted from the trajectory, during post-processing. This approach eliminates the need for ground control (GCP) when computing 3D positions of objects that appear in the field of view of the system imaging component. Two approaches for calibrating the system are presented, namely, terrestrial calibration and in-flight calibration. Test flights were conducted over the campus of The University of Calgary. Testing the system showed that best ground point positioning accuracy at 1:12,000 average image scale is 0.2 m (RMS) in casting and northing and 0.3 m (RMS) in height. Preliminary results indicate that major applications of such a system in the future are in the field of digital mapping, at scales of 1:5000 and smaller, and in the generation of digital elevation models for engineering applications. [Termes IGN] temps réelRésumé : (Auteur) Industrial manufacturing processes will increasingly require high-speed 3D measurement. If a photogrammetric measurement system is used, cameras will typically be pre-calibrated for interior orientation parameters. The conventional bundle adjustment may be computationally too expensive and other algorithms such as DLT or direct intersection can be used. However, these methods do not provide optimum solutions. In this paper, the separate adjustment method is introduced. This method is based on the separate least squares estimation (LSE) of both the camera exterior orientation parameters and the 3D co-ordinates of the object points. The same results as the bundle adjustment are produced but with a significantly lower computational load. This method is analogous to iterative solution algorithms such as Jacobi or Gauss-Seidel; however, the implementation is different. It is also similar to the successive application of resection and intersection under certain circumstances. The separate adjustment algorithm is described and compared with the bundle adjustment in terms of results, speed and memory requirements. [Termes IGN] traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (auteur) For specific applications such as permanent GPS network calibration and national leveling network surveying, a vertical accuracy of ∼1 mm for observing durations of a few hours to a few days at maximum in 10–100-km baselines would be required. To achieve a 1-mm accuracy in height determinations with differential-GPS measurements, path delay must be corrected with an accuracy of ∼0.3 mm. This level of accuracy is not achievable with standard GPS data analysis procedures. External correction from a water vapor remote sensing technique is therefore necessary. Microwave radiometers, which have been most extensively used for this purpose, solar spectrometers, DIAL and Raman lidars are considered in this paper. The principle and performance of these techniques is reviewed in the context of wet path delay retrieving. Namely, we evaluate the errors arising during the conversion of raw measurements to wet path delay, using retrieval coefficients or standard profiles. It is shown that changes in temperature profiles can produce errors of up to 1 cm in wet path delay with microwave radiometers. Similarly, mismodeled temperature profiles can produce errors of 2–3 mm in wet path delay with DIAL and Raman lidars. Raman lidar offers the possibility to retrieve the temperature profile from total air density. Assuming that absolute concentrations of water vapor and dry gases can be retrieved, the accuracy would be unbiased. In addition, Raman lidar would also allow for the correction of hydrostatic path delay without requiring the use of mapping functions. This might reduce the residual errors due to horizontal pressure and temperature gradients. This technique will therefore be investigated in more details in a future study. [Termes IGN] processus ponctuelRésumé : (auteur) This work aims at detecting buildings in digital aerial photographs. We model a set of buildings by a configuration of objects. We define a point process on the set of configurations, which could be divided into two parts: the first one is a prior model on the configurations which uses interactions between objects. The second one is a data model which enforces the coherence with the images. Thus we obtain a distribution /spl pi/ which has to be maximized. In order to achieve this maximum, we use a Monte Carlo Markov Chain simulation-a Metropolis-Hastings-Green algorithm-mixed with simulated annealing. Then we test this method on both synthetic and real data.
