[Termes IGN] Perceptron multicoucheRésumé : (Auteur) Tree growth information is crucial in forest management and planning. Terrain-derived attributes such as the topographic wetness index (TWI), in addition to leaf area index (LAI) are closely related to tree growth, but are not commonly used in empirical growth models. In this study, we examined if modified TWI and LAI estimated from airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data could be used to improve the predictions of a national single-tree diameter growth model. Altogether 1118 sample trees were selected within 197 subjectively placed plots in randomly selected forest stands in south-eastern Finland. Linear mixed effect (LME) and multilayer perceptron models were used to model the bias of 5-year growth predictions of the model and thus ultimately improve its predictions. The root mean square error (RMSE) of the national model was 0.604 cm. LME modelling reduced this value to 0.404 cm and MLP to 0.568 cm. The predictors included in the best-performing LME model were modified TWI, LAI estimated from LiDAR intensities, and elevation. Without an LAI estimate, the best RMSE was 0.436 cm. When applied as such, original and modified TWIs produced similar accuracy. We conclude that both TWI and LAI obtained from LiDAR data improve the diameter growth predictions of the national model. [Vedettes matières IGN] SylvicultureRésumé : (auteur) In the Romanian Carpathians, Silver fir covers about 5% of the forest area and is the second most important conifer species. Although there are a number of genetic studies concerning the distribution of genetic diversity of Abies alba in Europe, populations from the south-eastern limit of the distribution range have been studied less. The aim of the present study was to assess the genetic diversity and differentiation in 36 silver fir populations along the Carpathian Mountains in Romania, using seven microsatellites loci. High levels of genetic diversity (He = 0.779 to 0.834 and AR = 11.61 to 14.93) were found in all populations. Eastern Carpathians populations show higher levels of diversity, both in allelic richness and expected heterozygosity and higher degrees of genetic differentiation compared to southern populations. Bayesian clustering analysis revealed the existence of two genetically distinct groups for silver fir populations, one larger cluster which comprises the Inner Eastern Carpathians, Curvature Carpathians, South Carpathians and the Banat Mountains and the second cluster contained most of the North and Outer Eastern Carpathians population. Both AMOVA and Barrier analysis supported genetic differentiation among geographical provenance regions. The high genetic diversity of silver fir populations from the eastern limit of its distribution provide high potential to mitigate the negative effects of climate warming being valuable genetic resources in the context of global change. The distribution pattern of genetic variation at local, regional and country scale could and should be considered for the preservation of the forest genetic resources. [Termes IGN] téléphone intelligentRésumé : (Auteur) The localization of persons or objects usually refers to a position determined in a spatial reference system. Outdoors, this is usually accomplished with Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). However, the automatic positioning of people in GNSS-free environments, especially inside of buildings (indoors) poses a huge challenge. Indoors, satellite signals are attenuated, shielded or reflected by building components (e.g. walls or ceilings). For selected applications, the automatic indoor positioning is possible based on different technologies (e.g. WiFi, RFID, or UWB). However, a standard solution is still not available. Many indoor positioning systems are only suitable for specific applications or are deployed under certain conditions, e.g. additional infrastructures or sensor technologies. Smartphones, as popular cost-effective multi-sensor systems, is a promising indoor localization platform for the mass-market and is increasingly coming into focus. Today’s devices are equipped with a variety of sensors that can be used for indoor positioning. In this contribution, an approach to smartphone-based pedestrian indoor localization is presented. The novelty of this approach refers to a holistic, real-time pedestrian localization inside of buildings based on multi-sensor smartphones and easy-to-install local positioning systems. For this purpose, the barometric altitude is estimated in order to derive the floor on which the user is located. The 2D position is determined subsequently using the principle of pedestrian dead reckoning based on user's movements extracted from the smartphone sensors. In order to minimize the strong error accumulation in the localization caused by various sensor errors, additional information is integrated into the position estimation. The building model is used to identify permissible (e.g. rooms, passageways) and impermissible (e.g. walls) building areas for the pedestrian. Several technologies contributing to higher precision and robustness are also included. For the fusion of different linear and non-linear data, an advanced algorithm based on the Sequential Monte Carlo method is presented. [Termes IGN] variation saisonnièreRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, which represents a continuation of the previous author's work, an inconstancy of GPS residual error ANOVA estimates and their variances are presented. For the purpose of the analysis, fixed solutions for all of the three coordinates, e (eastwards), n (northwards) and u (upwards), obtained by using ionosphere-free (L0) linear combination of double-difference phase observations in the processing of GPS data, were employed. The aim of the research was to consider the behaviour of variances of GPS residual error ANOVA estimates in time because there has not been any paper dealing with that issue so far. Herein, it turned out a seasonal pattern in related time series was present. In addition, it was concluded there was a difference in ANOVA estimate extreme values obtained when one considered daily data subsets compared to those obtained in the approach considering monthly data of the fixed solutions. GPS data collected at ending stations of a baseline of 40 km in length within a four-year period, involving the lowest and increased solar activity, were used in calculations. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, oblique airborne images with very high resolution are used to address the problem from aerial views in urban areas. Traditional classification method (i.e., random forests) is compared with state-of-the-art fully convolutional networks (FCNs). Random forests use hand-craft image features including red, green, blue (RGB), scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT), and Texton, and point cloud features consisting of normal vector and planarity extracted from different scales. In contrast, the inputs of FCNs are the RGB bands and the third components of normal vectors. In both cases, three-dimensional (3D) features are projected back into the image space to support the facade interpretation. Fully connected conditional random field (CRF) is finally taken as a post-processing of the FCN to refine the segmentation results. Several tests have been performed and the achieved results show that the models embedding the 3D component outperform the solution using only images. FCNs significantly outperformed random forests, especially for the balcony delineation.
