[Termes IGN] optimisation par colonie de fourmisRésumé : (Auteur) Conventional methods have difficulties in forming optimal paths when raster data are used and multi-objectives are involved. This paper presents a new method of using ant colony optimization (ACO) for solving optimal path-covering problems on unstructured raster surfaces. The novelty of this proposed ACO includes the incorporation of a couple of distinct features which are not present in classical ACO. A new component, the direction function, is used to represent the 'visibility' in the path exploration. This function is to guide an ant walking toward the final destination more efficiently. Moreover, a utility function is proposed to reflect the multi-objectives in planning applications. Experiments have shown that classical ACO cannot be used to solve this type of path optimization problems. The proposed ACO model can generate near optimal solutions by using hypothetical data in which the optimal solutions are known. This model can also find the near optimal solutions for the real data set with a good convergence rate. It can yield much higher utility values compared with other common conventional models. [Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (Auteur) Since maps are widely available for many areas around the globe, they provide a valuable resource to help understand other geospatial sources such as to identify roads or to annotate buildings in imagery. To utilize the maps for understanding other geospatial sources, one of the most valuable types of information we need from the map is the road network, because the roads are common features used across different geospatial data sets. Specifically, the set of road intersections of the map provides key information about the road network, which includes the location of the road junctions, the number of roads that meet at the intersections (i.e., connectivity), and the orientations of these roads. The set of road intersections helps to identify roads on imagery by serving as initial seed templates to locate road pixels. Moreover, a conflation system can use the road intersections as reference features (i.e., control point set) to align the map with other geospatial sources, such as aerial imagery or vector data. In this paper, we present a framework for automatically and accurately extracting road intersections from raster maps. Identifying the road intersections is difficult because raster maps typically contain much information such as roads, symbols, characters, or even contour lines. We combine a variety of image processing and graphics recognition methods to automatically separate roads from the raster map and then extract the road intersections. The extracted information includes a set of road intersection positions, the road connectivity, and road orientations. For the problem of road intersection extraction, our approach achieves over 95% precision (correctness) with over 75% recall (completeness) on average on a set of 70 raster maps from a variety of sources. [Termes IGN] rapport base hauteurRésumé : (Auteur) This paper aims to present a new approach for automatic urban scene modeling from high-resolution satellite images with focus on building areas. The input data consist of a panchromatic stereo pair of satellite images, with a submetric resolution of 50–70 cm and a low Base to Height ratio B/H [0.05–0.2]. Since a detailed extraction and description of building roofs is complex in a satellite context, we propose to describe the scene by means of a 3D-surface that provides either raster or vector information using different description levels. The main contribution of our approach is the use of 3D-features such as 3D-segments and 3D-facets to guide the optimization process. 3D surface modeling can be formulated as a matching problem that can be solved by graph cut minimization. The novelty consists in the original construction of the graph to combine input 2D data and 3D feature constraints to control the final surface. Complementary features are used. 3D-segments modelize discontinuities and 3D-facets help to regularize the surface by planar patches. The proposed automatic system provides a surface height map with subpixellar precision. Moreover, the system is generic and extensible to other data such as aerial and terrestrial images or to a multiple view context. External databases can also be easily added to the process to constrain the optimization. [Termes IGN] transformation mathématiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a theoretical approach that has been developed to capture the computational intensity and computing resource requirements of geographical data and analysis methods. These requirements are then transformed into a common framework, a grid-based representation of a spatial computational domain, which supports the efficient use of emerging cyberinfrastructure environments. Two key types of transformational functions (data-centric and operation-centric) are identified and their relationships are explained. The application of the approach is illustrated using two geographical analysis methods: inverse distance weighted interpolation and the ./TGIS_A_292016_O_XML_IMAGES/TGIS_A_292016_O_ILM0001.gif spatial statistic. We describe the underpinnings of these two methods, present their conventional sequential algorithms, and then address their latent parallelism based on a spatial computational domain representation. Through the application of this theoretical approach, the development of domain decomposition methods is decoupled from specific high-performance computer architectures and task scheduling implementations, which makes the design of generic parallel processing solutions feasible for geographical analyses.
