[Termes IGN] SIG 3DRésumé : (Auteur) 3-D analysis in GIS is still one of the most challenging topics for research. With the goal being to model possible movement within the built environment, this paper, therefore, proposes a new approach to handling connectivity relationships among 3-D objects in urban environments in order to implement spatial access analyses in 3-D Npace. To achieve this goal, this paper introduces a 3-D network data model called the geometric network model (GNM), which has been developed by transforming the combinatorial data model (CDM), representing a connectivity relationship among 3-D objects using a dual graph. For the transformation, this paper presents (1) an O(n2) algorithm for computing a straight medial axis transformation (MAT), (2) the processes for transforming phenomena from 3-D CDM to 3-D GNM, and (3) spatial access algorithms for the 3-D geometric network based upon the Dijkstra algorithm. Using the reconstructed geometric network generated from the transformations, spatial queries based upon the complex connectivity relationships between 3-D urban entities are implemented using Dijkstra algorithm. Finally, the paper presents the results of an experimental implementation of a 3-D network data model (GNM) using GIS data of an area in downtown Columbus, Ohio. [Termes IGN] visualisationRésumé : (Auteur) It is common for modern geospatial libraries to contain multiple datasets that cover the same area but differ only in some specific quality attributes (e.g., resolution and precision). This is affecting the concept of content-based geospatial queries, as simple coverage-based query mechanisms (e.g., declaring a specific area of interest) as well as theme-based query mechanisms (e.g., requesting a black and white aerial photo or multispectral satellite imagery) are rendered inadequate to identify and access specific datasets in such collections. In this paper we introduce a novel approach to handle data quality attributes in geospatial queries. Our approach is characterized by the ability to model and learn user preferences, thus establishing user profiles that allow us to customize image queries for improving their functionality in a constantly diversifying geospatial user community. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper a visual approach to querying in spatial databases is presented. A filter flow methodology is used to consistently express different types of queries in these systems. Filters are used to represent operations on the database and pictorial icons are used throughout the language for filters, operators and spatial relations. Different granularities of the relations are presented in a hierarchical fashion for spatial constraints. The language framework and functions are described and examples are used to demonstrate its capabilities in representing different levels of queries, including spatial joins and composite spatial joins. Here, the primary focus is on the query language itself but an overview of the implemented interface of the language is also provided. [Termes IGN] web sémantiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Methods that were developed in support of applications for the Semantic web are used to enhance information discovery services in a Spatial Data Infrastructure. A standard Catalog Service is thus enabled to resolve queries of the type "concept@location in time" through the automatic evaluation of metadata formalizing the conceptual, spatial and temporal semantics of geodata. A prototype of the sytem is implemented within the framework of the Interreg IIIB funded GeoShare project.
