[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The automatic interpretation of aerial and satellites images is one of the main important research topics in photogrammetry and images analysis. The aim of the interpretation is the recognition or verification of objects in images. The quality of the interpretation results depends among other factors on the information content of the input data. The more information in the input data the easier is the interpretation process. In this paper an approach is described that increases the quality of the interpretation process by using existing GIS data as prior information on the one hand and by combining multispectral and LIDAR data on the other hand. The approach is used fo automatic change detection and is based on the evaluation of automatically derived training data sets from existing GIS data. For that reason no data dependent tuning factors have to be defined and no human interaction is necessary. [Termes IGN] Web Feature ServiceRésumé : (Auteur) Current data sharing in the Internet environment is supported using metadata at the file level. This approach has three fundamental shortcomings. First, sharing data from different sources with different semantics, data models, and acquisition methods usually requires data conversion and/or integration like data conflation. This can be tedious and error-prone. Second, data updated from one source cannot be automatically propagated to other related data or applications. Finally, data sharing at the file level makes it difficult to provide feature-level data for searching, accessing, and exchanging in real time over the Internet. This paper addresses these three issues by proposing a standards-based framework for sharing geospatial data in the transportation application domain. The proposed framework uses a standard data model-geospatial data model proposed by the Geospatial One-Stop initiative to harmonize the semantics and data models without the use of data integration methods. It uses Geography Markup Language (GML) for geospatial data coding and feature relationship, which provides a basis to propagate the data update from one source to related other sources and applications, and to search and extract data at the feature level. The framework uses the Web Feature Service (WFS) to search, access and extract data at the feature level from distributed sources. Finally, the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) standard was used for data display on the Web browser. Two transportation network datasets are used in the prototype case study to implement the proposed framework. The prototype allows the user to access and extract data at the feature level on the Web from distributed sources without downloading the full data file. It shows that the proposed standards-based feature-level data-sharing system is capable of sharing data without data conflation, accessing, and exchanging data in real time at the feature level. The prototype also shows that changes in one database can be automatically reflected or propagated in another related database without data downloading. [Termes IGN] penteRésumé : (Auteur) This paper compares three methods for removing non-ground measurements from airborne laser scanning data. These methods, including the elevation threshold with expanding window (ETEW), maximum local slope (MLS), and progressive morphological (PM) filters, analyze data points based on variations of local slope, and elevation. Low and high-relief data sets with various densities of trees, houses, and sand dunes were selected to test the filtering methods. The results show that all three methods can effectively remove most non-ground points in both low-relief urban and high-relief forested areas. The PM filter generated the best result in coastal barrier island areas, whereas the other algorithms tended to remove the tops of steep sand dunes. Each method experienced various omission or commission errors, depending on the filtering parameters. Topographic slope is the most sensitive parameter for the three filtering methods. [Termes IGN] thermosphèreRésumé : (Auteur) An exceptional solar activity event occurred at the end of October 2003. On October 29th, seven groups of sunspots were visible on the Sun's surface and the geomagnetic index Kp reached the extreme value of 9, leading to beautiful auroras, among other effects. Similar events also occurred in November 2003. These events have been an exceptional opportunity to estimate effects of the thermosphere total density perturbations in extreme conditions on a Low Earth Orbit (LEO orbit corresponding in this study at altitudes ranging from 800 km up to 1400 km). Specifically, we study the best way to get reliable geodetic products even during such solar events, and how well the thermosphere models (DTM78, DTM94, DTM2000, and MSIS86 models) allow us to accomplish this and to predict the observed perturbations on the orbital elements. Thus our analysis is twofold. First, we have computed orbits of satellites equipped with the onboard DORIS tracking system, at an altitude ranging from 800 to 1330 km and for periods of time including these exceptional events (October 2931 and November 20, 2003). We have computed 30hour arc orbits, estimating the drag coefficient parameter very frequently (every minute) using a tight randomwalk constraint or using a white noise reset in the Gipsy/Oasis software. We show that significant errors are obtained for the considered thermosphere models, but can be greatly improved. using a more sophisticated data processing. We also investigated how these proposed processing strategies affect the quality of the DORIS geodetic products. Significant improvements were found for weekly stations coordinates estimations as well as for polar motion determination.
In addition, we have investigated the global quality of the modeling of the variations of the mean orbital elements in using thermosphere models over long periods of time including such severe geomagnetic events. This original approach is based on averaging techniques implemented in the CODIOR software. We have analysed the continuous longterm evolution of the semimajor axis of the geodetic satellites Starlette, Stella and Ajisai tracked by the Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) network. In this second part, we give: (i) a single global empirical coefficient per satellite, to validate the models over the whole duration of the orbital arc, including the exceptional solar activity events, and (ii) one coefficient per a period of about 2 months to quantify the seasonal differences between the models and the observations.
As a result of both investigations, we compare the capability of recent models of thermosphere to allow us to get reliable geodetic products and mean orbital elements variations over short and long periods of time as well as for the recent exceptional geomagnetic events. Different altitudes are considered: around 800900 km for the Stella and Starlette satellites tracked by laser ranging systems and SPOT tracked by DORIS; around also 13001400 km for the Ajisai satellite tracked by laser techniques and TOPEX and Jason also tracked by DORIS. It appears in our study that laser and DORIS data are complementary to probe the thermosphere, and to test the quality of thermosphere models in specific conditions for getting accurate geodetic products.Numéro de notice : A2005-611 Affiliation des auteurs : IGN+Ext (1940-2011) Thématique : POSITIONNEMENT Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1016/j.asr.2005.03.029 Date de publication en ligne : 13/04/2005 En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1016/j.asr.2005.03.029 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=33947
