[Termes IGN] variation saisonnièreRésumé : (auteur) The present study develops ArcMap models to implement the following three methods: FAO-56 Penman–Monteith (FAO PM), Hargreaves–Samani (HS) and Hansen, with the former used as a reference. Moreover, three models implementing statistical indices (RMSD, MB, NMB) are also created. The purpose is threefold, as follows: to investigate the variability in the daily mean reference evapotranspiration (ETo) for the Decembers and Augusts during 2016–2019, over Peloponnese, Greece. Furthermore, to investigate the agreement between the methods’ ETo estimates, and examine the former along with MODIS ET (daily) averaged products. The study area is a complex Mediterranean area. Meteorological data from sixty-two stations under the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), and MODIS Terra LST products, have been employed. FAO PM is found sensitive to wind speed and depicts interactions among climate parameters (T, evaporative demand and water availability) in the frame of climate change. The years 2016–2019 are four of the warmest since the preindustrial era. Hargreaves–Samani’s estimations for the Decembers of 2016–2019 were almost identical to MODIS ET, despite their different physical meaning. However, for the Augusts there are considerable discrepancies between the methods’ and MODIS’s estimates, attributed to the higher evaporative demand in the summertime. The GIS models are accurate, reliable, time-saving, and adjustable to any study area. [Termes IGN] urbanismeRésumé : (auteur) People interact with each other in space and time. Improved understanding of human interactions in spatial, temporal, and social dimensions are highly beneficial for research and practices in public health, urban planning, and other fields. Traditional methods of collecting social interaction data are time-intensive and resource-consuming, resulting in relatively small sample sizes and limited information. Furthermore, traditional methods often oversimplify the dynamics of human interactions and fail to capture the characteristics of places where the interactions occur. With the popularity of location-based social media (LBSM) platforms, people can publish information about their social events such as time, location, and other participants. This research introduces a framework that formalizes terminologies and concepts related to spatial-social connections for the construction of spatial-social networks from LBSM data in GIS. Supported by the framework, the study presents methods of collecting, analyzing, and visualizing LBSM data in spatial-social dimensions. The methods are implemented and tested in a case study with Facebook data. The case study demonstrates that location-based social media data can be transformed into spatial-social networks and then be analyzed and visualized to answer innovative types of scientific inquiries. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) Electrical resistivity method and RS & GIS techniques are very much useful in identification of potential aquifer zones for exploitation, management and recharge of groundwater. Vertical Electrical Soundings are conducted at 35 locations in Gurpur watershed using Schlumberger array. The thematic layers like porosity, transmissivity and hydraulic conductivity are prepared using electrical resistivity data. Total of 13 thematic layers are used for vector integration and identification of Groundwater Potential Zones (GWPZ). The numerical weights and ranks are assigned to the themes based on their relationship with groundwater. The findings shows that the depth to bedrock varies from 9.1 to 44.4 m and most of the mid land and low land region shows moderate to high depths of about 25–44 m. The GWPZ are classified into five classes namely, Very Good (≈21.02 km2), Good (≈231.35 km2), Moderate (≈420.76 km2), Poor (≈185.05 km2) and Very Poor (≈19.56 km2). The Good and Moderate categories cover ≈75% of total area. [Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (auteur) More often than not, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) excludes emotion and qualitative analysis from studies of people-place relationships in favor of quantitative approaches. We employ emotional cartography as a form of qualitative GIS (qualGIS) to elevate emotions from the periphery to the center of dialogue about children's well-being. We highlight the ontological parallels between qualGIS, emotional cartography and children in society, and advance emotion maps as a way to visualize different spatial and emotional realities. In reflecting upon the felt geography of our own childhood places, we affirm the importance of children's emotional attachments to places as well as the centrality of ‘messy’ human experiences in GIS. To conclude, we discuss the implications of emotional cartography for researchers, planners and GIS, paying special attention to children's well-being amidst the current COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, this includes a call to ‘witness’ and to foster spatial empathy among those advocating for children. [Termes IGN] utilisateurRésumé : (auteur) For designing qualitative interfaces for Public Participatory Geographic Information Systems (PPGIS), the user and use case should be clearly defined. However, PPGIS users may differ significantly, e.g. regarding their cultural background, IT-literacy, or interests. Studies examining varying user types and their impact on PPGIS usability are, however, lacking. In this paper, we analyse the user spectrum through conducting a usability study with 73 participants located in Colombia, Uganda and Austria. We combined a qualitative survey (conducted in all three countries) with an eye-tracking based survey (conducted only in Austria). Most of the usability issues arose due to inexperience in using interactive maps or applications other than social media. Based on the findings, we explored which user context information had an impact on which usability problem. With this, we designed an adaptation gradient that can be used for future research on developing adaptive PPGIS interfaces.
