[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) In contrast to conventional airborne multi-echo laser scanner systems, full-waveform (FW) lidar systems are able to record the entire emitted and backscattered signal of each laser pulse. Instead of clouds of individual 3D points, FW devices provide connected 1D profiles of the 3D scene, which contain more detailed and additional information about the structure of the illuminated surfaces. This paper is focused on the analysis of FW data in urban areas. The problem of modelling FW lidar signals is first tackled. The standard method assumes the waveform to be the superposition of signal contributions of each scattering object in such a laser beam, which are approximated by Gaussian distributions. This model is suitable in many cases, especially in vegetated terrain. However, since it is not tailored to urban waveforms, the generalized Gaussian model is selected instead here. Then, a pattern recognition method for urban area classification is proposed. A supervised method using Support Vector Machines is performed on the FW point cloud based on the parameters extracted from the post-processing step. Results show that it is possible to partition urban areas in building, vegetation, natural ground and artificial ground regions with high accuracy using only lidar waveforms. [Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) We integrate lidar point clouds and large-scale vector maps to perform building modeling. The proposed scheme comprises three major steps: (a) the preprocessing of lidar point clouds and vector maps, (b) roof analysis, and (c) building reconstruction. During the preprocessing stage, the building polygons are first obtained from the polylines, followed by the selections of lidar points in the building polygons. An irregular triangulated network is then built to represent the facets. The segmentation of planar facets for roof analysis is implemented by examining the patch size and the facet orientation. The interior 3D roof edges are then determined from the intersection of the roof planes. Finally, the building models are reconstructed through regularization. Two sample sites are tested for the purposes of validation. The experimental results indicate that the proposed scheme allows for high fidelity and accuracy, provided that the point cloud density is enough. Des exemples d'applications et d'analyse spatiale de plus en plus complexes y ont été présentés. Les données image et les données lidar sont aussi traitées pour mieux appréhender la 3D. Enfin la géomatique web est abordée au travers de nouvelles interfaces. [Termes IGN] modélisation spatialeRésumé : (Auteur) Noise mapping is the process of determining and visualizing noise impact on the environment in order to support environmental policies. Currently most noise impact studies are based on a 2D approach. The 3D output of noise simulation software is processed and visualized in 2D and combined with 2D topographical and other data, such as population distribution, to quantify the effects. The research described in this paper aims at improving visualization and assessment of noise impact on the environment by generating a 3D noise map in cases where 3D effects are relevant. Based on the specific demand, an approach is presented to generate a 3D noise map as a basis for noise impact studies. The proposed concept is proofed by applying it to a sample noise impact study. From experiences with the sample, it can be concluded that the 3D noise map offers significant insight in situations where 3D noise effects are relevant, i.e. in urban areas. Here, current 2D noise maps have limitations. In addition, more accurate assessment of noise impact is possible in particular when different floors of a building close to the noise source and/or behind noise barriers are considered. This paper also elaborates on accuracy aspects in all phases of noise modelling, including a presentation of initial experiments of 3D noise interpolation. [Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) A new method applying close range laser scan (Lidar) survey in capturing 3D objects was presented in this study. One linear laser source Lidar was used for the survey of the objects. This approach is particularly essential for 3D modelling of urban buildings in a geospatial database. Data calibration and merging were conducted for combing point cluster datasets surveyed from different locations and angles of one object in order to generate a 3D data model for the entire object. The point cluster data were transformed and converted into a triangulated irregular network (TIN) mesh model in a 3D geospatial database. The TIN mesh model was compressed and simplified by applying a computing script of surface variability priority parameters. The digital surface images and textures of the building object were draped onto the 3D TIN model according to their coordinate locations. This research provides a direct and fast means of capturing 3D objects on the Earth's surface in a geospatial database.
