[Termes IGN] surveillance du littoralRésumé : (Auteur) When surveying the coastline, the integration of bathymetric (below sea level) and laser scanning (above sea level) data causes problems due to the different imaging properties. However, by ensuring that the different data sets have been accurately georeferenced and oriented, a complete and accurate model of the terrain above and below sea level can be obtained. This technique was employed to survey the area of Portovenere in Italy, including the San Pietro church located on a steeply sloping rocky promontory, with positional accuracies in the order of 5cm. [Termes IGN] rapport base hauteurRésumé : (Auteur) This paper aims to present a new approach for automatic urban scene modeling from high-resolution satellite images with focus on building areas. The input data consist of a panchromatic stereo pair of satellite images, with a submetric resolution of 50–70 cm and a low Base to Height ratio B/H [0.05–0.2]. Since a detailed extraction and description of building roofs is complex in a satellite context, we propose to describe the scene by means of a 3D-surface that provides either raster or vector information using different description levels. The main contribution of our approach is the use of 3D-features such as 3D-segments and 3D-facets to guide the optimization process. 3D surface modeling can be formulated as a matching problem that can be solved by graph cut minimization. The novelty consists in the original construction of the graph to combine input 2D data and 3D feature constraints to control the final surface. Complementary features are used. 3D-segments modelize discontinuities and 3D-facets help to regularize the surface by planar patches. The proposed automatic system provides a surface height map with subpixellar precision. Moreover, the system is generic and extensible to other data such as aerial and terrestrial images or to a multiple view context. External databases can also be easily added to the process to constrain the optimization. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) State-of-the-art geodetic and remote sensing techniques can prove their potential through particular engineering applications. Here we discuss load test measurements of bridges over the Danube. Prior to the particular bridge surveying projects, accuracy analysis was carried out in the laboratory. We describe the shortcomings and limitations of remote sensing and propose the joint application of traditional and remote sensing technologies. We also provide recommendations for further applications of laser scanning in deformation measurement of structures. [Termes IGN] surface planeRésumé : (Auteur) Building reconstruction from lidar data offers promising prospects for rapid generation of large-scale 3D models autonomously. Such reconstruction requires knowledge on a variety of parameters that refer to both the point cloud and the modeled buildings. The complexity of the reconstruction task has led researchers to use external information to localize buildings and assume that they consist of only planar parts. These assumptions limit the reconstruction of complex buildings, particularly those having curved faces. We present in this paper a detection and reconstruction model that considers the point cloud as the only information source and supports the reconstruction of general shape surfaces. Nonetheless, since many of the buildings are composed of planar faces, we maintain the planar based partitioning whenever possible and model non-planar surfaces only where needed. This way, standard models are extended to support free-form roof shapes without imposing artificial models. In addition to the free-form surface extension, we demonstrate the effect of imposing geometric constraints on the reconstruction as a means to generate realistic building models.
