[Termes IGN] ressources en eauRésumé : (auteur) Accurate identification of water boundaries is of great significance to water resources surveys. Most water indexes have been designed for different districts and cannot be universally utilized in different regions and, in addition, they rely on atmospheric correction. A new water index, None-Radiation-Calibration Water Index (NRCWI), was constructed by Landsat OLI Band 3 (Green), Band 5 (NIR), and Band 6 (SWIR1), and was compared to the previous method, Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), Modified Normalized Difference Water Index (MNDWI), Automated Water Extraction Index (AWEI). We evaluated the accuracy of four water index methods for classifying water in 30-m resolution Landsat 8 OLI imagery from the Bohai Sea Rim in China, which takes in a broad assortment of features including sea and coastline, lakes, rivers, man-made water features, and mountains (shadow water). The following outcomes were obtained: 1. The overall accuracy of NRCWI was 95.23%, which is higher than NDWI, MNDWI, AWEI; 2. The leakage error of NRCWI was 5.48%, the misclassification error was 6.15%, and it implies that the error of NRCWI was effected decrease; 3. NRCWI had the highest kappa coefficient in lakes, rivers, man-made waters, mountains, and other ground features, which means that the method can reach a high accuracy in case 2 water which is principally situated in the near shore, estuary and so on; 4. In the applicability study, the kappa values of NRCWI were 89.99% (OLI), 87.36% (ETM+), 87.33% (TM), and 81.20% (Sentinel-2 MSI). Overall, the NRCWI method performed the best, with the highest accuracy and the lowest leakage error, which may be useful in OLI, ETM+, and TM imagery. [Termes IGN] rivièreRésumé : (Auteur) The aim of this paper is to show that natural watercourses surveying gives the best results using integrated measurement methods (classical surveying and LiDAR). The paper contains comparison of the riverbed DTM results obtained using LiDAR data in relation to data derived from direct measurements. The paper involved the performance of appropriate tests on selected structures using integrated measurement techniques – GNSS, tachymetry and LiDAR. The conducted studies showed some limitations method for acquiring data from LiDAR. This is because the method does not enable the determination of measuring points coordinates which describe the topography in places inaccessible for a laser beam. [Termes IGN] symbole graphiqueRésumé : (auteur) This paper reports on a controlled experiment evaluating how different cartographic representations of risk affect participants’ performance on a complex spatial decision task: route planning. The specific experimental scenario used is oriented towards emergency route-planning during flood response. The experiment compared six common abstract and metaphorical graphical symbolizations of risk. The results indicate a pattern of less-preferred graphical symbolizations associated with slower responses and lower-risk route choices. One mechanism that might explain these observed relationships would be that more complex and effortful maps promote closer attention paid by participants and lower levels of risk taking. Such user considerations have important implications for the design of maps and mapping interfaces for emergency planning and response. The data also highlights the importance of the ‘right decision, wrong outcome problem’ inherent in decision-making under uncertainty: in individual instances, more risky decisions do not always lead to worse outcomes. [Termes IGN] zone humideRésumé : (auteur) Consistent estimation of water surface area from remote sensing remains challenging in regions such as South Asia with vegetation, mountainous topography, and persistent monsoonal cloud cover. High-resolution optical imagery, which is often used for global inundation mapping, is highly impacted by clouds, while synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery is not impacted by clouds and is affected by both topographic layover and vegetation. Here, we compare and contrast inundation extent measurements from visible (Landsat-8 and Sentinel-2) and SAR (Sentinel-1) imagery. Each data type (wavelength) has complementary strengths and weaknesses which were gauged separately over selected water bodies in Bangladesh. High-resolution cloud-free PlanetScope imagery at 3-m resolution was used as a reference to check the accuracy of each technique and data type. Next, the optical and radar images were fused for a rule-based water area classification algorithm to derive the optimal decision for the water mask. Results indicate that the fusion approach can improve the overall accuracy by up to 3.8%, 18.2%, and 8.3% during the wet season over using the individual products of Landsat8, Sentinel-1, and Sentinel-2, respectively, at three sites, while providing increased observational frequency. The fusion-derived products resulted in overall accuracy ranging from 85.8% to 98.7% and Kappa coefficient varying from 0.61 to 0.83. The proposed SAR-visible fusion technique has potential for improving satellite-based surface water monitoring and storage changes, especially for smaller water bodies in humid tropical climate of South Asia. [Termes IGN] zone d'intérêtRésumé : (auteur) The objective of this study was to identify potential runoff storage zones based on the various physical characteristics of the Vishwamitri watershed using a GIS-based conceptual framework that combines through analytic hierarchy process using multi criteria decision-making method. The conceptual framework will help to identify potential runoff storage zones for water storage sites based on the various physical characteristics (rainfall, slope, land use/land cover, height above the nearest drainage, stream order, curve number, topographic wetness index) of the watershed. It was found out that 17% of the area is optimally suitable, 33.2% of the area is moderately suitable, 33.1% of the area is marginally suitable and 18.7% of the area is not suitable for water storage zones/structures. Results will help concerned authorities in the proficient arrangement and execution of water-related plans and schemes, improve water shortage, reduce dependability on ground water and ensure sustainable water availability for local and agricultural purposes in the study area.
