[Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) Unlike the simplification of independent line features, the generalization of terrain contour is to handle the “line group", which describes the geomorphologic characteristics, such as the terrain valley and ridge. In decision level, the real operation object in the terrain generalization is not the line segment itself but the drainage network contained in the contour representation. This paper presents a method to generalize contour based on the analysis of drainage structure. The first step is to extract the drainage system from the contour lines and build the associations between the valley branch and the bend group of contour lines. The second step is to analyse the properties of drainage tree structure to decide which branch to be removed, and then to perform the geometric elimination of bends. In this study the extraction of drainage system is directly from contour (other than from DTM data) based on the Delaunay triangulation model. Three kinds of tree structure organization are investigated: the hierarchical binary tree representing the bend inclusion relationship contained in each contour line, the planar structure tree describing valley topological relationship and the semantic hierarchical tree representing valley joint level structure from the point of view of hydrology. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (auteur) [introduction] In most GIS softwares, geographical data are often stored and managed using a set of independent layers. Many important relationships existing between objects of these layers are not explicit and can therefore be broken by some treatments on the data (such as generalisation) and create inconsistencies. In this paper, we focus on the relationship existing between relief and hydrographic network. This relationship is particularly important: in the real world, the hydrographic network flows down on the relief. Many rivers are located inside deep thalwegs, which have been hollowed out by the rivers themselves. The geographic data representing the relief and the hydrographic network should therefore respect this outflow relationship. This relationship is sometimes not respected in geographic datasets. A cause of this inconstancy is that the elevation and hydrographic data are often collected separately (with different acquisition processes and levels of detail) without taking into account this relationship. An other cause is the use of some treatments on either the relief or the hydrographic network or even both, which can alter the outflow relationship. For example, in map generalisation, hydrographic sections are often displaced in order to avoid an overlapping with other objects, such as a road parallel to a river. As a consequence, the outflow relationship between hydrographic sections and the relief can be broken. Our goal is to give a method to correct these inconsistencies Numéro de notice : C2007-052 Affiliation des auteurs : COGIT (1988-2011) Thématique : GEOMATIQUE Nature : Communication nature-HAL : ComAvecCL&ActesPubliésIntl DOI : sans En ligne : https://icaci.org/files/documents/ICC_proceedings/ICC2007/documents/doc/THEME%20 [...] Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=102595 Documents numériques

[Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (auteur) [introduction] Generalisation aims at reducing the level of detail of a database in order to meet new specifications. A lot of work have dealt with automated generalisation for many years. Most of them concerned cartographic generalisation that aims at producing maps but this paper focuses on purely database (or model) generalisation. This paper addresses a specific and important problem of database generalisation, the generalisation of river network data. The paper emphasizes on the problem of selection: which stream is important enough to be part of the generalized dataset? River network selection has already been treated in the past by [12,9]. The solution presented here particularly employs the principle of "good continuation" to enrich the database with "river strokes". The second part of the paper presents a state of the art of river network generalisation. The third part explains the problems, the hypotheses and the pre-processes necessary for selection. The fourth part describes the generalisation process proposed to solve the problem. The fifth part presents the results obtained with this process on actual French datasets. Finally, this paper is concluded with leads for further research. En s'appuyant sur les principes de la carte géomorphologique de la France à 1/50 000, elle permet la reconnaissance des lits des cours d'eau et l'estimation de l'aléa inondation. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) A meaningful hydrological network is critical to spatial analysis and modelling. 'Meaningful' in that it is topologically correct, provides a basis for modelling flow and differentiates between different types of water features. In Great Britain, large-scale digital mapping of hydrological features was captured from paper maps and had a cartographic emphasis that had poor attribution, and no underlying model that supported geographical modelling. This emphasis gave rise to rivers and lakes that were variously 'broken' into sections by features such as dams, bridges, and culverts. This paper reports on research to create automatically a topologically connected hydrological network that underpins the detailed cartographic representation of such features. The network was created by joining these hydrographic features together according to rules of both continuity and proximity between river sections, and their flow direction (using an underlying digital elevation model). Confidence values were associated with each section link reflecting the certainty of that connection. The confidence values provided a basis for directing human intervention to uncertain connections as part of the final editing process. The project took as its input OS MasterMap 'water feature' data. A skeletonisation process was used to create the medial axis of the network. The paper reports in detail the methodology, the implementation and evaluation. The algorithm worked well in rural areas where interruptions are small and there is greater variation in height. In urban areas the challenges were greater where typically relatively long sections of river may be re-engineered and culverted, and where the fidelity of the digital elevation model was insufficient to discern the subtle changes in elevation.
