[Termes IGN] Wadden, mer desRésumé : (Auteur) The Wadden Sea is a unique habitat formed by the strong influence of tidal currents. Twice a day the area is flooded and falls dry afterwards. Due to the force of tidal streams, strong morphologic changes occur frequently. In order to monitor these changes, high precision digital terrain models (DTMs) are required. Lidar proved to be an adequate technique to deliver highly accurate 3D mass points of the surface and dense spacing. However, water often remains within tidal channels and depressions even at low tide, and near infrared lidar is not able to penetrate the water leading to a point cloud which contains surface and water points. Thus, the standard processing workflow for DTM generation from lidar is not suited for the Wadden Sea. In this article, a new workflow is proposed for DTM generation from lidar data in the Wadden Sea. Two major building blocks of this workflow, namely classification of the water points and structure line detection, are presented in detail. For both tasks suitable algorithms were developed tailored to meet special requirements of mudflat. Lidar measurements from water surfaces are detected by a supervised fuzzy classification using the features height, intensity, and 2D point density. Structure lines are derived through a piecewise reconstruction of the surface from the lidar data with a hyperbolic tangent function. The obtained results show that both methods considerably improve the accuracy of DTMs from lidar data. [Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) We integrate lidar point clouds and large-scale vector maps to perform building modeling. The proposed scheme comprises three major steps: (a) the preprocessing of lidar point clouds and vector maps, (b) roof analysis, and (c) building reconstruction. During the preprocessing stage, the building polygons are first obtained from the polylines, followed by the selections of lidar points in the building polygons. An irregular triangulated network is then built to represent the facets. The segmentation of planar facets for roof analysis is implemented by examining the patch size and the facet orientation. The interior 3D roof edges are then determined from the intersection of the roof planes. Finally, the building models are reconstructed through regularization. Two sample sites are tested for the purposes of validation. The experimental results indicate that the proposed scheme allows for high fidelity and accuracy, provided that the point cloud density is enough. [Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) A new method applying close range laser scan (Lidar) survey in capturing 3D objects was presented in this study. One linear laser source Lidar was used for the survey of the objects. This approach is particularly essential for 3D modelling of urban buildings in a geospatial database. Data calibration and merging were conducted for combing point cluster datasets surveyed from different locations and angles of one object in order to generate a 3D data model for the entire object. The point cluster data were transformed and converted into a triangulated irregular network (TIN) mesh model in a 3D geospatial database. The TIN mesh model was compressed and simplified by applying a computing script of surface variability priority parameters. The digital surface images and textures of the building object were draped onto the 3D TIN model according to their coordinate locations. This research provides a direct and fast means of capturing 3D objects on the Earth's surface in a geospatial database. [Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) Exploration and preservation of Por-Bajin fortress, testimony to the former presence of ancient civilisation in the wildness of Siberia, is one of the largest-scale projects in modern archeology. Combining terrestrial laser-scanning, magnetic field and electrical resistance data revealed anomalies that had remained concealed during fieldwork and in aerial photos. [Termes IGN] précision des mesuresRésumé : (Auteur) Despite the relatively high cost of airborne lidar-derived digital elevation models (DEMs), such products are usually presented without a satisfactory associated estimate of accuracy. For the most part, DEM accuracy estimates are typically provided by comparing lidar heights against a finite sample of check point coordinates from an independent source of higher accuracy, supposing a normal distribution of the derived height differences or errors. This paper proposes a new methodology to assess the vertical accuracy of lidar DEMs using confidence intervals constructed from a finite sample of errors computed at check points. A non-parametric approach has been tested where no particular error distribution is assumed, making the proposed methodology especially applicable to non-normal error distributions of the type usually found in DEMs derived from lidar. The performance of the proposed model was experimentally validated using Monte Carlo simulation on 18 vertical error data-sets. Fifteen of these data-sets were computed from original lidar data provided by the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Working Group III/3, using their respective filtered reference data as ground truth. The three remaining data-sets were provided by the Natural Environment Research Council's Airborne Research and Survey Facility lidar system, together with check points acquired using high precision kinematic GPS. The results proved promising, the proposed models reproducing the statistical behaviour of vertical errors of lidar using a favourable number of check points, even in the cases of data-sets with non-normally distributed residuals. This research can therefore be considered as a potentially important step towards improving the quality control of lidar-derived DEMs. Copyright RS&PS + Blackwell Publishing Numéro de notice : A2008-295 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article DOI : 10.1111/j.1477-9730.2008.00476.x En ligne : https://doi.org/10.1111/j.1477-9730.2008.00476.x Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=29288
