[Termes IGN] visibilitéRésumé : (auteur) We present an approach for automatic visibility analysis in interurban roads from point clouds. The methodology is based on a ray-tracing algorithm followed by an occlusion detection to identify potential obstacles between the driver and the theoretical position of pedestrians and cyclists. As a result, the area of visibility from each driver position is obtained. The method compares the performance and suitability of point clouds acquired from both Airborne and Mobile Laser Scanning. The methodology is tested in six real case studies. In most cases, results obtained from MLS are more accurate since the point clouds are acquired from a perspective similar to driver and they have higher resolution. Fundamental to understand risk in aeras of high vulnerability is capturing the near-shore land and sea surface. Bathymetric Lidar is the most effective and cost-efficient technology to capture both the land and seafloor simultaneously to provide a continuous detailed 3D elevation model along the coast line. Its ability to sucessfullly capture elevation on both sides of the coastline, over areas stretching more than 100 km along the coast, has made the'gold standard' for coastal vulnerability and near-shore benthic habitat modelling. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (auteur) The objective of the paper is to develop an automated method that enables for the recognition and semantic interpretation of topological building structures. The novelty of the proposed modeling approach is an unambiguous decomposition of complex objects into predefined simple parametric structures, resulting in the reconstruction of one topological unit without independent overlapping elements. The aim of a data processing chain is to generate complete polyhedral models at LOD2 with an explicit topological structure and semantic information. The algorithms are performed on 3D point clouds acquired by airborne laser scanning. The presented methodology combines data-based information reflected in an attributed roof topology graph with common knowledge about buildings stored in a library of elementary structures. In order to achieve an appropriate balance between reconstruction precision and visualization aspects, the implemented library contains a set of structure-depended soft modeling rules instead of strictly defined geometric primitives. The proposed modeling algorithm starts with roof plane extraction performed by the segmentation of building point clouds, followed by topology identification and recognition of predefined structures. We evaluate the performance of the novel procedure by the analysis of the modeling accuracy and the degree of modeling detail. The assessment according to the validation methods standardized by the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing shows that the completeness of the algorithm is above 80%, whereas the correctness exceeds 98%. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) Synergistic applications based on integrated hyperspectral and lidar data are receiving a growing interest from the remote-sensing community. A prerequisite for the optimum sensor fusion of hyperspectral and lidar data is an accurate geometric coalignment. The simple unadjusted integration of lidar elevation and hyperspectral reflectance causes a substantial loss of information and does not exploit the full potential of both sensors. This paper presents a novel approach for the geometric coalignment of hyperspectral and lidar airborne data, based on their respective adopted return intensity information. The complete approach incorporates ray tracing and subpixel procedures in order to overcome grid inherent discretization. It aims at the correction of extrinsic and intrinsic (camera resectioning) parameters of the hyperspectral sensor. In additional to a tie-point-based coregistration, we introduce a ray-tracing-based back projection of the lidar intensities for area-based cost aggregation. The approach consists of three processing steps. First is a coarse automatic tie-point-based boresight alignment. The second step coregisters the hyperspectral data to the lidar intensities. Third is a parametric coalignment refinement with an area-based cost aggregation. This hybrid approach of combining tie-point features and area-based cost aggregation methods for the parametric coregistration of hyperspectral intensity values to their corresponding lidar intensities results in a root-mean-square error of 1/3 pixel. It indicates that a highly integrated and stringent combination of different coalignment methods leads to an improvement of the multisensor coregistration.
