[Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) Land Use (LU) mapping and monitoring at fine spatial and temporal resolutions requires many efforts. Remote-sensing based change detection approaches exist (Lu et al., 2014), though use is not trivial and not necessarily related to cover. Considerable interest has then emerged in using Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) (Goodchild, 2007) as an alternative source of data (Fonte et al., 2013; Fritz et al., 2015). The goal of this paper is to discuss the lessons learned from a VGI data collection initiative which have aimed to collect change and local LU observations (i.e. quarry activity, usage and number of floors of a building, construction in progress) for updating and enriching authoritative LU data. [Termes IGN] spatiotriangulationRésumé : (auteur) High location accuracy is a major requirement for satellite image users. Target performance is usually achieved thanks to either specific on-board satellite equipment or an auxiliary registration reference dataset. Both methods may be expensive and with certain limitations in terms of performance. The Institut national de l’information géographique et forestière (IGN) and Airbus Defence and Space (ADS) have worked together for almost 20 years, to build reference data for improving image location using multi-satellite observations. The first geometric foundation created has mainly used SPOT 5 High Resolution Stereoscopic (HRS) imagery, ancillary Ground Control Points (GCP) and Very High Resolution (VHR) imagery, providing a homogenous location accuracy of 10m CE90 almost all over the world in 2010. Space Reference Points (SRP) is a new worldwide 3D GCP database, built from a plethoric SPOT 6/7 multi-view archive, largely automatically processed, with cloud-based technologies. SRP aims at providing a systematic and reliable solution for image location (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, VHR satellite imagery, High Altitudes Pseudo-Satellite…) and similar topics thanks to a high-density point distribution with a 3m CE90 accuracy. This paper describes the principle of SRP generation and presents the first validation results. A SPOT 6/7 smart image selection is performed to keep only relevant images for SRP purpose. The location of these SPOT 6/7 images is refined thanks to a spatiotriangulation on the worldwide geometric foundation, itself improved where needed. Points making up the future SRP database are afterward extracted thanks to classical feature detection algorithms and with respect to the expected density. Different filtering methods are applied to keep the best candidates. The last step of the processing chain is the formatting of the data to the delivery format, including metadata. An example of validation of SRP concept and specification on two tests sites (Spain and China) is then given. As a conclusion, the on-going production is shortly presented. [Termes IGN] trace GPSRésumé : (auteur) Crowdsourced traces collected by GPS devices during sports activities are now widely available on different websites. The goal of this paper is to study the potential of crowdsourced traces coming from GPS devices to highlight updates in authoritative geographic data. To reach this goal, an approach based on two steps is proposed. First, a data matching method is applied to match authoritative data and crowdsourced traces. Second, for the non-matched crowdsourced segments composing a trace, different criteria are defined to decide if whether or not, non-matched segments should be considered as an alert for update in authoritative data. The proposed approach is tested on crowdsourced traces and on BDTOPO® authoritative road and path network in mountain area. The results are promising: 727, 1 km of missing paths were found in the test area, which corresponds to 7.7% of the total length of used traces. The discovered missing paths also represent a contribution of 2.4% of the total length of BDTopo® road and path network in the test area. [Termes IGN] jeu de données localiséesRésumé : (Auteur) Local features play an important role in remote sensing image matching, and handcrafted features have been excessively used in this area for a long time. This article proposes a pyramid convolutional neural triplet network that extracts a 128-dimensional deep descriptor that significantly improves the matching performance. The proposed approach first extracts deep descriptors of the anchor patches and corresponding positive patches in a batch using the proposed pyramid convolutional neural network. Following this step, the approaches chooses the closest negative patch for each anchor patch and corresponding positive patch pair to form the triplet sample based on the descriptor distances among all other image patches in the batch. These triplets are used to optimize the parameters of the network using a new loss function. We evaluated the proposed deep descriptors on two benchmark data sets (Brown and HPatches) as well as real image data sets. The results reveal that the proposed descriptor achieves the state-of-the-art performance on the Brown data set and a comparatively very high performance on the HPatches data set. The proposed approach finds more correct matches than the classical handcrafted feature descriptors on aerial image pairs and is observed to be robust to variations in the viewpoint and illumination.
