[Termes IGN] régression logistiqueRésumé : (auteur) Landslide susceptibility mapping is a crucial initial step in risk mitigation strategies. Landslide hazards are widely spread all over the world and, as such, mapping the relevant susceptibility levels is in constant research and development. As a result, numerous modelling techniques and approaches have been adopted by scholars, implementing these models at different scales and with different terrains, in search of the best-performing strategy. Nevertheless, a direct comparison is not possible unless the strategies are implemented under the same environmental conditions and scenarios. The aim of this work is to implement three statistical-based models (Statistical Index, Logistic Regression, and Random Forest) at the basin scale, using various scenarios for the input datasets (terrain variables), training samples and ratios, and validation metrics. A reassessment of the original input data was carried out to improve the model performance. In total, 79 maps were obtained using different combinations with some highly satisfactory outcomes and others that are barely acceptable. Random Forest achieved the highest scores in most of the cases, proving to be a reliable modelling approach. While Statistical Index passes the evaluation tests, most of the resulting maps were considered unreliable. This research highlighted the importance of a complete and up-to-date landslide inventory, the knowledge of local conditions, as well as the pre- and post-analysis evaluation of the input and output combinations. Context: Many alien species have become widespread in Europe; among these, red oak is a common invader of temperate forests. Aims: The effects of substitution of natural mixed forest by red oak forest on humus forms and soil properties were investigated in two paired plots: a 50-year-old (Bosco Vacaressino) and 80-year-old (Bosco Ginestre) forest stand. Methods: Soil sampling was performed from 3 layers at 40 and 49 points in Bosco Vacaressino and Bosco Ginestre respectively to determine humus forms, soil pH, organic carbon stock, carbon-nitrogen ratio (C:N), available phosphorus, and texture. Results: Red oak resulted in a shift from Mull to Moder humus forms; soil acidification, higher C:N ratio, and soil organic carbon stock were observed compared with mixed forests. Conclusion: The major changes were reflected in a change toward less active humus forms; the effects of vegetation conversions were also visible in mineral layers; many of the modifications were more evident with increasing stand age. [Termes IGN] trace numériqueRésumé : (Auteur) The paper discusses the need of a high-level query language to allow analysts, geographers and, in general, non-programmers to easily cross-analyze multi-source VGI created by means of apps, crowd-sourced data from social networks and authoritative geo-referenced data, usually represented as JSON data sets (nowadays, the de facto standard for data exported by social networks). Since an easy to use high-level language for querying and manipulating collections of possibly geo-tagged JSON objects is still unavailable, we propose a truly declarative language, named J-CO-QL, that is based on a well-defined execution model. A plug-in for a GIS permits to visualize geo-tagged data sets stored in a NoSQL database such as MongoDB; furthermore, the same plug-in can be used to write and execute J-CO-QL queries on those databases. The paper introduces the language by exemplifying its operators within a real study case, the aim of which is to understand the mobility of people in the neighborhood of Bergamo city. Cross-analysis of data about transportation networks and VGI from travelers is performed, by means of J-CO-QL language, capable to manipulate and transform, combine and join possibly geo-tagged JSON objects, in order to produce new possibly geo-tagged JSON objects satisfying users’ needs. [Termes IGN] réseau neuronal convolutifRésumé : (Auteur) Existing algorithms for Digital Terrain Model (DTM) extraction still face difficulties due to data outliers and geometric ambiguities in the scene such as contiguous off-ground areas or sloped environments. We postulate that in such challenging cases, the radiometric information contained in aerial imagery may be leveraged to distinguish between ground and off-ground objects. We propose a method for DTM extraction from imagery which first applies morphological filters to the Digital Surface Model to obtain candidate ground and off-ground training samples. These samples are used to train a Fully Convolutional Network (FCN) in the second step, which can then be used to identify ground samples for the entire dataset. The proposed method harnesses the power of state-of-the-art deep learning methods, while showing how they can be adapted to the application of DTM extraction by (i) automatically selecting and labelling dataset-specific samples which can be used to train the network, and (ii) adapting the network architecture to consider a larger surface area without unnecessarily increasing the computational burden. The method is successfully tested on four datasets, indicating that the automatic labelling strategy can achieve an accuracy which is comparable to the use of manually labelled training samples. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms two reference DTM extraction algorithms in challenging areas. [Termes IGN] origine - destinationRésumé : (Auteur) An intense process of urbanization, witnessed particularly in the last decade, has stressed the need to comprehend human mobility behavior in urban settings. Although the emergence of contributed geospatial data (i.e., pervasive activity‐based data) has contributed to substantial progress toward understanding human activity, the relationship between human‐crowd mobility and the functional structure of a city is not yet well understood. In this context, the present research focuses on the intra‐urban origin–destination matrix modeling founded on a combination of two major crowdsourced datasets as well as the inclusion of urban communities’ structure. Specifically, the well‐known “radiation” and “PWO” models were modified through first, identifying the communities embedded in the cyberspace network then employing the identified hierarchical structure of the spatial‐interaction network for the formulation of the users’ movement network and second, imposing proper input variables including the telecommunication activity volume and check‐in frequency. The results obtained by various empirical analyses suggest that the modified community‐constrained origin–destination flow estimation models exhibit better performance levels than those of alternative conventional mobility models.
