[Termes IGN] urbanisationRésumé : (Auteur) Macapà, capitale de l'état d'AMAPA (Brésil), est une ville qui connaît une forte croissance démographique depuis quelques années, en raison de son rôle comme centre de service, mais également en raison de l'existence de flux migratoires avec la Guyane Française. Cette croissance démographique entraîne l'apparition rapide de nouveaux quartiers, le plus souvent créés spontanément par les habitants en dehors de toute planification. Il est donc bien difficile de mettre à jour les cartes de la ville, d'autant que la situation de Macapà au bord de l'Amazone est synonyme d'une intense nébulosité qui rend très difficile l'acquisition d'images optiques. Nous proposons ici les résultats d'une expérience de cartographie de la ville de Macapà à partir des données RSO ERS multidates. Ces données nous permettent de bien appréhender le milieu naturel autour de la ville et la nature des différentes zones urbaines. La dimension temporelle nous permet par ailleurs de noter facilement les mutations de rétrodiffusion entre les deux dates, et par là de remonter aux changements dans l'occupation du sol qu'elles signalent. Nous testons ensuite un algorithme de détection automatique des zones urbaines, qui devrait, une fois au point, nous permettre d'accélérer le processus d'interprétation, aujourd'hui manuel, et ainsi de traiter des séquences de données très importantes.
