[Termes IGN] vision par ordinateurRésumé : (auteur) As people grow accustomed to effortless outdoor navigation, there is a rising demand for similar possibilities indoors as well. Unfortunately, indoor localization, being one of the requirements for navigation, continues to be a problem without a clear solution. In this article, we are proposing a method for an indoor positioning system using a single image. This is made possible using a small preprocessed database of images with known control points as the only preprocessing needed. Using feature detection with the SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm, we can look through the database and find an image that is the most similar to the image taken by a user. Such a pair of images is then used to find coordinates of a database of images using the PnP problem. Furthermore, projection and essential matrices are determined to calculate the user image localization—determining the position of the user in the indoor environment. The benefits of this approach lie in the single image being the only input from a user and the lack of requirements for new onsite infrastructure. Thus, our approach enables a more straightforward realization for building management. [Termes IGN] spectroradiomètreRésumé : (auteur) Unmanned aircraft system (UAS)-mounted spectroradiometers offer a new capability to measure spectral reflectance and solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence at detailed canopy scales. This capability offers potential for upscaling and comparison with airborne and space-borne observations [e.g., the upcoming European Space Agency (ESA) Fluorescence Explorer (FLEX) satellite mission]. In this respect, the accurate spatial characterization and georeferencing of the UAS acquisition footprints are essential to unravel the origin and spatial variability of optical signals acquired within the extent of airborne/satellite pixels. In this article, we present and validate a novel algorithm to georeference the footprint extent of a nonimaging spectroradiometer mounted on a multirotor UAS platform. We used information about the spectroradiometer position and orientation during flight and about topography of observed terrain to calculate the footprint geolocation. In a recursive process, the field of view (FOV) of the spectroradiometer projected on the ground. Multiple FOV ground projections retrieved during a spectroradiometer reading (i.e., a single integration time) were aggregated to calculate the footprint extent. The spatial accuracy of the footprint geolocation was validated by applying the georeferencing algorithm on checkpoint pixels of image acquired with a comounted digital camera. Geolocations of the checkpoint pixels, which served as a proxy for the spectroradiometer footprint, were successfully compared with surveyed ground checkpoints. Finally, the spectral and radiometric quality of UAS-acquired reflectance signatures was compared with ground-measured reflectance of four natural targets (three different types of grass and a bare soil), and a strong agreement was observed. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) Gully erosion is one of the main processes of soil degradation, representing 50%–90% of total erosion at basin scales. Thus, its precise characterization has received growing attention in recent years. Geomatics techniques, mainly photogrammetry and LiDAR, can support the quantitative analysis of gully development. This paper deals with the application of these techniques using aerial photographs and airborne LiDAR data available from public database servers to identify and quantify gully erosion through a long period (1980–2016) in an area of 7.5 km2 in olive groves. Several historical flights (1980, 1996, 2001, 2005, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2016) were aligned in a common coordinate reference system with the LiDAR point cloud, and then, digital surface models (DSMs) and orthophotographs were obtained. Next, the analysis of the DSM of differences (DoDs) allowed the identification of gullies, the calculation of the affected areas as well as the estimation of height differences and volumes between models. These analyses result in an average depletion of 0.50 m and volume loss of 85000 m3 in the gully area, with some periods (2009–2011 and 2011–2013) showing rates of 10,000–20,000 m3/year (20–40 t/ha*year). The manual edition of DSMs in order to obtain digital elevation models (DTMs) in a detailed sector has facilitated an analysis of the influence of this operation on the erosion calculations, finding that it is not significant except in gully areas with a very steep shape. Lors de ce travail de fin d’études, nous avons étudié la possibilité de nous passer de ces points de calage via l’utilisation d’un récepteur GNSS embarqué sur drone.
