[Termes IGN] transformation en ondelettesRésumé : (Auteur) Interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) is a promising recent technique for the generation of digital elevation models and/or the measurement of ground surface deformations. In InSAR data processing, the first step is the image co-registration, achieved by using a set of tie points which are the conjugate image points on the master and slave images. Tie points are selected with the aim of finding the conjugate point automatically on the slave image for any given point on the master image, by the process known as image matching. To achieve reliable matching, a set of points within a window is used instead of a single point. The size of the window will affect the reliability of matching. Hitherto there have been no effective methods for the determination of optimum window size for this purpose. In practice, this parameter is determined by experience. In this paper, a pair of SAR images is used to test the effect of window size on the reliability of co-registration. An optimum window size is selected on the basis of the experimental results. The determination of optimum window size for tie point matching is then examined theoretically, leading to a proposal for an automated method based on the auto-correlation of the SAR images, which reflects the similarity between image pixels. The auto-correlation function is decomposed into waves of various frequencies by a wavelet transform. By a combined analysis of the variations of wave amplitudes with frequency, the optimum window size for tie point matching can be determined. A procedure based on the use of Daubechies wavelet db1 is proposed in detail. An optimum window size could be determined in this way for any pair of SAR images. [Termes IGN] valeur radiométriqueRésumé : (Auteur) The Cartographic Institute of Catalonia (ICC) has acquired a DMC digital camera and has performed some first investigations regarding radiometric performance and geometric accuracy potential. In this cooperation with the Institute of Geodesy and Photogrammetry (IGP), ETH Zurich various aspects are analysed. The investigations make use of recent test flights near Tortosa, a plane region with varying landcover. For the quantitative analysis of the DMC results, a ground control points and lidar data exist, which have been simultaneously acquired with the DMC images. The first part of the investigations focusses on geometric sensor modeling and aerial triangulation. Preliminary results of ICC have shown that when standard additional parameters, like the 12 Ebner parameters, are used in AT, significant systematic errors remain and each of the 4 subimages that form the virtual panchromatic image has a different pattern of image deformations. In these investigations, we do not perform analysis of additional parameters in order to model these deformations, as this has been done in another ICC work. The results are analysed using GCPs established in the above mentioned testfield, using two different bundle adjustment programs.. Another part of our investigations regarding AT deals with automatic point transfer using a high quality multi-image, multi-primitive matching method developed at IGP, initially for automatic DSM generation. Different aspects like number, distribution and accuracy of the tie points are analysed, as well number of rays per tie point. The second part of the paper focuses on automatic DSM generation. Although digital cameras offer characteristics, like better image quality, that could be used favourably in automated DSM generation, almost all commercial systems employ matching methods with limitations, like no support of multi-image matching. In these investigations, we briefly introduce the above mentioned IGP multi-image matching and present the matching results. Initial results with other digital cameras and images with large forward and side overlap have shown that this matching approach can produce DSMs at least as dense as those produced by airborne laser scanning and almost as accurate, preserving also very well surface discontinuities. The processing and DSM control was performed by IGP using lidar data provided by ICC, while ICC made an independent control of the aerial triangulation using the software programs at ICC. [Termes IGN] transformation géométriqueRésumé : (Auteur) If photogrammetry has been used for a long time to describe the topography, airborne laser systems are nowadays well-known to provide an accurate representation of terrestrial landscapes through irregular 3D point clouds. Both technologies have their pros and cons that a joint use may optimize to reach a better description of 3D scenes. Beyond the adjustment problem of laser strips, combining optical and laser data is at first a registration problem, especially when using high resolution images. We propose in this paper a methodology for registering laser strips with regard to a photogrammetric derived Digital Surface Model (DSM) which has been computed from a set of known pose calibrated images. Based on the main hypothesis that the geometrical frames of laser systems and digital cameras are linked with a regular function, we describe an algorithm based on the calculation of linear approximations of this transform with 3D local translations. Due to the irregular spatial distribution of laser data and the difficulty of detecting homologous points in the DSM, we adopt a statistical strategy to find patch correspondences which leads to analyze the distribution of a certain vector set of potential homologous candidates. We then propose to estimate an analytical model through a weighted sliding window strategy. Laser strips are corrected globally in a chronological order. The algorithm is validated onto synthetic transforms. Experimental results show the capability of the registration algorithm on raw laser data sets.
