[Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) Novel photogrammetric sensors open up new possibilities for measuring the radiometric and geometric properties of the Earth’s surface. To ensure optimal use of these complex, rapidly developing, diverse systems, it is becoming crucial to have a means of calibrating and validating complete imaging systems, and even production lines, in operational conditions. This paper presents a calibration and validation methodology based on a permanent test site (Sjökulla) and demonstrates its use in a calibration and validation campaign for a large-format photogrammetric imaging system, the Intergraph DMC. The major objective of the campaign was to perform acceptance testing of the new camera system procured by the National Land Survey of Finland. The evaluation proved the high geometric and radiometric performance of the imaging system and demonstrated the potential of spectrodirectional photogrammetric 3D imaging. The usability aspects of test site calibration and validation from the point of view of a mapping organisation were also considered. [Termes IGN] spline cubiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Camera calibration is a process whereby the geometric characteristics of a specific camera are determined. It is performed so that the photograph obtained can be used to produce accurate measurements. This paper presents a simple and accurate model for extracting the optical characteristics (intrinsic parameters) as well as the 3D position and orientation of the camera (extrinsic parameters) based on image coordinate measurements for targets of known 3-D position. The proposed algorithm is divided into two major steps. First, the behaviour of a grid of projected lines is studied and the required local corrections are applied. Such corrections are calculated using Composed Cubic Splines. This function covers radial, decentering and prism distortions. It provides a more realistic model of distortion which is represented as a composed surface. Then, calibration parameters are estimated using a pinhole model based on the minimization of a linear criterion relating the 3D coordinates of the targets with their 2D image projections. [Termes IGN] surveillance sanitaireRésumé : (Auteur) The focus of this research is a hierarchical image matching strategy and a multiple surface registration technique for 3D reconstruction of a scoliotic torso. Scoliosis is a deformity of the human spine most commonly occurring in children. After being detected, periodic examinations via x-rays are traditionally used to measure its progression. However, due to the increased risk of cancer, non-invasive and radiation-free scoliosis detection and progression monitoring methodologies are being researched. For example, quantifying the scoliotic deformity through the torso surface is a valid alternative because of its high correlation with the internal spine curvature. This work proposes a low-cost, multi-camera photogrammetric system for semi-automated 3D reconstruction of a torso surface with a sub-millimetre level accuracy. The paper first describes the system design and calibration for optimal accuracy. It then covers the reconstruction and registration procedures giving insights into the hierarchical image matching strategy and the multiple surface registration technique. Final accuracy is evaluated through the goodness of fit between the reconstructed surface and a more accurate set of points measured by a coordinate measuring machine. The investigations have considered the vicarious radiometric and spatial resolution validation and calibration of the sensor system, radiometric processing of the image blocks either by performing relative radiometric block equalization or into absolutely reflectance calibrated products, and finally aspects of practical applications on NDVI layer generation and tree species classification. The data sets were provided by Leica Geosystems ADS40 and Intergraph DMC and the participants represented stakeholders in National Mapping Authorities, software development and research. The investigations proved the stability and quality of evaluated imaging systems with respect to radiometry and optical system. The first new-generation methods for reflectance calibration and equalization of photogrammetric image block data provided promising accuracy and were also functional from the productivity and usability points of view. The reflectance calibration methods provided up to 5% accuracy without any ground reference. Application oriented results indicated that automatic interpretation methods will benefit from the optimal use of radiometrically accurate multi-view photogrammetric imagery.
