[Termes IGN] traitement du signalRésumé : (auteur) Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) have become a powerful tool use in surveying and mapping, air and maritime navigation, ionospheric/space weather research and other applications. However, in some cases, its maximum efficiency could not be attained due to some uncorrelated errors associated with the system measurements, which is caused mainly by the dispersive nature of the ionosphere. Ionosphere has been represented using the total number of electrons along the signal path at a particular height known as Total Electron Content (TEC). However, there are many methods to estimate TEC but the outputs are not uniform, which could be due to the peculiarity in characterizing the biases inside the observables (measurements), and sometimes could be associated to the influence of mapping function. The errors in TEC estimation could lead to wrong conclusion and this could be more critical in case of safety-of-life application. This work investigated the performance of Ciraolo’s and Gopi’s GNSS-TEC calibration techniques, during 5 geomagnetic quiet and disturbed conditions in the month of October 2013, at the grid points located in low and middle latitudes. The data used are obtained from the GNSS ground-based receivers located at Borriana in Spain (40∘N, 0∘E; mid latitude) and Accra in Ghana (5.50∘N, −0.20∘E; low latitude). The results of the calibrated TEC are compared with the TEC obtained from European Geostationary Navigation Overlay System Processing Set (EGNOS PS) TEC algorithm, which is considered as a reference data. The TEC derived from Global Ionospheric Maps (GIM) through International GNSS service (IGS) was also examined at the same grid points. The results obtained in this work showed that Ciraolo’s calibration technique (a calibration technique based on carrier-phase measurements only) estimates TEC better at middle latitude in comparison to Gopi’s technique (a calibration technique based on code and carrier-phase measurements). At the same time, Gopi’s calibration was also found more reliable in low latitude than Ciraolo’s technique. In addition, the TEC derived from IGS GIM seems to be much reliable in middle-latitude than in low-latitude region. Airborne photogrammetry has found place in these applications as a modeling and a measuring tool. Vinci-Construction-Terrassement is a private company of public building and works sector that integrates drones and photogrammetry as a mapping solution and metrology investigation on its sites. This tool is very efficient for the calculation of stock volumes for instance, or for time tracking of specific areas with risk of landslides. The aim of the present work is to do direct georeferencing of images acquired by the camera leaning on an embedded GPS receiver. The UAS used needs to be low cost and therefore data processing is adapted to this constraint. Note de contenu : 1- Introduction - version française

Airborne remote sensing techniques appear to be convenient for providing them at a large scale but require an enhanced imagery spectral resolution. A superspectral sensor with a limited number of bands dedicated to urban materials classification could be a solution. Within this context, this study focused on the optimization of this band subset from hyperspectral data, considering both the position of the bands and their width. The used approach first builds a hierarchy of groups of adjacent bands, according to a relevance criterion to decide which adjacent bands must be merged. Then, band selection is performed at the different levels of this hierarchy. Several band configurations are thus explored within this hierarchy. This method was applied to a data set consisting of spectra generated from reflectance spectral signatures of 9 common urban materials collected from 7 spectral libraries. At the end, the potential of a superspectral sensor with wider bands was confirmed. When cm-level accuracy is required, the classical approach of sensor orientation does not deliver satisfactory results unless a large number of ground control points (GCPs) is regularly distributed in the mapped area. This may not be a feasible method either due to the associated costs or terrain inaccessibility.
This thesis addresses such issues by presenting a development of MAV platforms with navigation and imaging sensors that are able to perform integrated sensor orientation (ISO). This method combines image measurements with GNSS or GNSS/IMU (Global Navigation Satellite System/Inertial Measurement Unit) observations. This innovative approach allows mapping with cm-level accuracy without the support of GCPs, even in geometrically challenging scenarios, such as corridors. The presented solution also helps in situations where automatic image observations cannot be generated, e.g. over water, sand, or other surfaces with low variations of texture.
The application of ISO to MAV photogrammetry is a novel solution and its implementation brings new engineering and research challenges due to a limited payload capacity and quality of employed sensors on-board. These challenges are addressed using traditional as well as novel methods of treating observations within the developed processing software. The capability of the constructed MAV platforms and processing tools is tested in real mapping scenarios. It is empirically confirmed that accurate aerial control combined with a state-of- the-art calibration and processing can deliver cm-level ground accuracy, even in the most demanding projects.
This thesis also presents an innovative way of mission planning in challenging environments. Indeed, a thorough pre-flight analysis is important not only for obtaining satisfactory map- ping quality, but photogrammetric missions must be carried out in compliance with state regulations.Note de contenu : 1- Introduction

[Termes IGN] traitement du signalRésumé : (éditeur) The third edition of this indispensable book in radio interferometry provides extensive updates to the second edition, including results and technical advances from the past decade; discussion of arrays that now span the full range of the radio part of the electromagnetic spectrum observable from the ground, 10 MHz to 1 THz; an analysis of factors that affect array speed; and an expanded discussion of digital signal-processing techniques and of scintillation phenomena and the effects of atmospheric water vapor on image distortion, among many other topics. With its comprehensiveness and detailed exposition of all aspects of the theory and practice of radio interferometry and synthesis imaging, this book has established itself as a standard reference in the field. It begins with an overview of the basic principles of radio astronomy, a short history of the development of radio interferometry, and an elementary discussion of the operation of an interferometer. From this foundation, it delves into the underlying relationships of interferometry, sets forth the coordinate systems and parameters to describe synthesis imaging, and examines configurations of antennas for multielement synthesis arrays. Various aspects of the design and response of receiving systems are discussed, as well as the special requirements of very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI), image reconstruction, and recent developments in image enhancement techniques and astrometric observations. Also discussed are propagation effects in the media between the source and the observer, and radio interference, factors that limit performance. Related techniques are introduced, including intensity interferometry, optical interferometry, lunar occultations, tracking of satellites in Earth orbit, interferometry for remote Earth sensing, and holographic measurements of antenna surfaces. This book will benefit anyone who is interested in radio interferometry techniques for astronomy, astrometry, geodesy, or electrical engineering.
