[Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (auteur) Man-made objects, such as buildings and roads, which are important targets for information extraction from high spatial resolution (HSR) remote sensing images, often feature straight boundaries. This study employs this knowledge on HSR image segmentation by embedding a straight-line constraint in regionbased image segmentation. A new concept called collinear and ipsilateral neighborhood is proposed and applied to hardboundary constraint-based image segmentation for accuracy improvement. In the experimental areas, the method accuracy measured by recall ratio r increases from 0.036 to 0.048 (on the average) after the refinement, with significantly smaller decreases in precision p that are all less than 0.006. In sum, the proposed technique effectively reduces over-segmentation errors and maintains the same level of under-segmentation error ratio, particularly in man-made areas. It facilitates subsequent objectbased image analyses, including feature extraction, object recognition, and classification. [Termes IGN] température au solRésumé : (auteur) Main objective of this study was to establish a relationship between land cover and land surface temperature (LST) in urban and rural areas. The research was conducted using Landsat, WorldView-2 (WV-2) and Digital Mapping Camera. Normalised difference vegetation index and normalised difference built-up index were used for establishing the relation between built-up area, vegetation cover and LST for spatial resolution of 30 m. Impervious surface and vegetation area generated from Digital Mapping Camera from Intergraph and WV-2 were used to establish the relation between built-up area, vegetation cover and LST for spatial resolutions of 0.1, 0.5 and 30 m. Linear regression models were used to determine the relationship between LST and indicators. Main contribution of this research is to establish the use of combining remote sensing sensors with different spectral and spatial resolution for two typical settlements in Vojvodina. Correlation coefficients between LST and LST indicators ranged from 0.602 to 0.768. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or more extensively Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) are platforms considered under the RPAs paradigm. Simultaneously, the development of sensors and instruments to be installed onboard such platforms is growing exponentially. These two factors together have led to the increasing use of these platforms and sensors for remote sensing applications with new potential. Thus, the overall goal of this paper is to provide a panoramic overview about the current status of remote sensing applications based on unmanned aerial platforms equipped with a set of specific sensors and instruments. First, some examples of typical platforms used in remote sensing are provided. Second, a description of sensors and technologies is explored which are onboard instruments specifically intended to capture data for remote sensing applications. Third, multi-UAVs in collaboration, coordination, and cooperation in remote sensing are considered. Finally, a collection of applications in several areas are proposed, where the combination of unmanned platforms and sensors, together with methods, algorithms, and procedures provide the overview in very different remote sensing applications. This paper presents an overview of different areas, each independent from the others, so that the reader does not need to read the full paper when a specific application is of interest. [Termes IGN] précision des mesuresRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents a dual camera system combining a wide field-of-view (FOV) surveillance camera and a pan-tiltzoom (PTZ) camera with an asymmetric photogrammetric configuration, and focuses on the analysis of its attainable measurement accuracy. First, we discuss the geometric modeling of the asymmetric photogrammetric configuration and analyze the accuracy of measurement based on error propagation for different baseline lengths, different focal lengths, and different pan angles of the PTZ camera. Second, we performed a comprehensive accuracy analysis based on Monte Carlo simulation, which incorporated artificial noise into the input data. Third, we conducted actual experiments in indoor and outdoor environments to verify the theoretical and simulation results. We found that the baseline length between the dual cameras was the main factor influencing measurement accuracy. Increase of the PTZ camera focal length could improve the measurement accuracy, but this trend was not significant when its focal length was relatively long. The pan angle of the PTZ camera also influenced the measurement accuracy, but this influence was not significant at short ranges. From these discoveries, we present an optimum configuration of the dual camera system for better than 1 percent measurement accuracy of the range within a normal observation range (e.g., 60 m). This proposed dual camera system provides enhanced machine vision capabilities that can be used in various applications.
