[Termes IGN] teneur en vapeur d'eauRésumé : (auteur) The Water Aerosol Lidar (WALI) system, deployed for 14 weeks during 2012 & 2013 on the island of Menorca, provided the Hydrological cycle in the Mediterranean eXperiment (HyMeX) with an opportunity to perform a multi-platform comparison on moisture retrievals at the timescales relevant for extreme precipitation events in the West Mediterranean basin. After calibration, the WALI lidar yields nighttime profiles of water vapor with ~7% accuracy from the ground up to 7 km, and daytime coverage of the lower layers, alongside common aerosol retrievals. It is used to characterize the water vapor profile product given by the IASI instrument on-board MetOp-B, and the fields simulated by the Météo-France AROME-WMED model and the open-source WRF model. IASI is found to be reliable above 1 km altitude, and the two models obtain similar high scores in the middle troposphere; WRF beneficiates from a more accurate modelling of the planetary boundary layer. [Termes IGN] vitesseRésumé : (auteur) A 1.5-μm all-fiber coherent Doppler lidar system for wind sensing was developed and characterized. The system design and implementation is presented. The system employs a 20-kHz pulse repetition rate transmitter and samples return signals at 400 MHz. A field-programmable gate array is programmed to generate and accumulate real-time periodograms representing average power spectra of the Doppler shifted echo from a series of more than 60 range gates, where each range gate is 48 m. The accumulated periodograms are streamed to a host computer for subsequent processing to yield the line-of-sight wind velocity. Wind velocity estimates with a precision value of 0.08 m/s can be made under nominal aerosol loading and nominal atmospheric turbulence conditions for ranges up to 3 km. Wind velocities and aerosol profiles are obtained while scanning the pointing direction of the lidar, thus producing both horizontal and vertical representations of the wind vectors. [Termes IGN] téléscopeRésumé : (Auteur) Daytime lidar operation in the middle atmosphere requires a narrow field of view (FOV) of the receiving telescope for effective background reduction and a high-transmission narrow-band detection. The laser beam position in the atmosphere relative to the optical axis of the receiving telescope is subject to high-frequency disturbances such as turbulence, vibration, and wind as well as comparable slow drift (thermal effects of the laser, stability of the building, etc.). We developed a beam stabilization system (BSS) that ensured a pulse-to-pulse stabilization of the laser beam with ~ 3 μrad remaining jitter, allowing ~ 60 μrad FOV. With BSS and single-pulse data acquisition system, the optimal alignment of the laser and telescope can be controlled, and information on the FOV and laser divergence in the far field can be derived. The capability of the BSS is to stabilize the laser against all internal and external disturbances below the repetition rate of the laser. [Termes IGN] traitement combinéRésumé : (Auteur) Within the project “Tiefenschärfe – hochauflösende Vermessung Bodensee” a high-resolution seamless terrain model is created using airborne topobathymetric laserscanning and multibeam echosounder (MBES) techniques. The project visualizes the enormous wealth of features of underwater landscapes of lakes. The combination of hydroacoustic (multibeam echosounder) and laser-optic (topobathymetric laserscanning) methods was used for the first time in a freshwater body of this size. Opportunities, limitations and restrictions of these high-resolution methods are presented.
