[Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) Several studies have shown that global changes have important impacts in mountainous areas, since they affect natural hazards induced by hydrometeorological events such as landslides. The present study evaluates, through an innovative method, the influence of both vegetation cover and climate change on landslide hazards in a Pyrenean valley from the present to 2100. We first focused on assessing future land use and land cover changes through the construction of four prospective socioeconomic scenarios and their projection to 2040 and 2100. Secondly, climate change parameters were used to extract the water saturation of the uppermost layers, according to two greenhouse gas emission scenarios. The impacts of land cover and climate change based on these scenarios were then used to modulate the hydromechanical model to compute the factor of safety (FoS) and the hazard levels over the considered area. The results demonstrate the influence of land cover on slope stability through the presence and type of forest. The resulting changes are statistically significant but small and dependent on future land cover linked to the socioeconomic scenarios. In particular, a reduction in human activity results in an increase in slope stability; in contrast, an increase in anthropic activity leads to an opposite evolution in the region, with some reduction in slope stability. Climate change may also have a significant impact in some areas because of the increase in the soil water content; the results indicate a reduction in the FoS in a large part of the study area, depending on the landslide type considered. Therefore, even if future forest growth leads to slope stabilization, the evolution of the groundwater conditions will lead to destabilization. The increasing rate of areas prone to landslides is higher for the shallow landslide type than for the deep landslide type. Interestingly, the evolution of extreme events is related to the frequency of the highest water filling ratio. The results indicate that the occurrences of landslide hazards in the near future (2021–2050 period, scenario RCP8.5) and far future (2071–2100 period, scenario RCP8.5) are expected to increase by factors of 1.5 and 4, respectively. However, direct measurements with in-situ instruments are logistically challenging and expensive. The development of optical remote sensing techniques in combination with low-cost image platforms and open-source algorithms offers the possibility of collecting large amounts of information at a reasonable instrumental and computational cost. This work builds on existing and new video monitoring techniques to remotely sense the nearshore bathymetry as well as the surf zone circulation in a high-energy meso-macro tidal beach environment, including storm events. The methods are validated against a dense data set acquired during an intensive field campaign conducted at Anglet beach, SW France. For the first time the temporal and spatial variability of concurrent nearshore bathymetry and surface currents are addressed under high-energy wave forcing. Note de contenu : 1. Introduction

[Termes IGN] conception cartographiqueRésumé : (auteur) Probably by dint of seductive appearances and overflowing passion for cartography, by dint of instant accessibility to all kind of maps and any graphic representations commonly called ‘maps’ and finally by dint of confusions between what is an IMAGE and what is a DATA, everyone forgets that, at the dawn of a cartographic project, ‘THE MAP STILL DOESN’T EXIST’. For it to exist, a scope of collective work and essential skills are necessary. First of all, the aim of a mapping project must be identified. Its specifications, statement of requirements, its schedule of conditions must be sealed by a contract between an orderer and a cartographer. The objective of this presentation is to recall how a keyboard is neither a magic thought nor a magic wand. Clicking on it will never finalize our work without us, cartographers, but engages us to follow series of timeless execution process over the entire duration of the cartographic production, in anticipating each action. Our work consists in making every effort, by all the necessary technical and human means, to gather the knowledge of a subject (or several) to ‘Map-draw’ with the ultimate goal of returning this acquired knowledge to the readers. Their eye has to find at first glance the information sought. Indeed, the more beautiful and easier to grasp the map is, the more it will be consulted with pleasure. Through a range of cartographic memories, the following characteristic examples of out-of-standard cartographic productions will detail the pertinence of this meticulous cartographical articulation. [Termes IGN] PalestineRésumé : (auteur) We are cartographers, trained and dedicated to our respective institutions around the world. Our cartographic works are gradually being developed, combining our multiple professional scientific and artistic skills, in the service of citizen information through the production of our maps. The performance of our works, submitted to the confidentiality of informations and data bases we process, remains invisible to public. In our complex job, confidentiality is a rule we first respect. We don’t usually explain our sophisticated manufacturing processes. Only our final result counts: THE MAP, completed, faithful to its project, editable, interpretable and memorizable at a first glance of its users. Among the Ecomuseum scientific team that was created in Battir, Palestine, after 2003, there was no cartographer. The team of young Palestinian professionals in architecture and civil engineering, just graduated, was armed with the rigour of their newly acquired knowledge, armed with their human freedom and citizen convictions. Isolated from everything they produced their collections of topographic maps from their own local survey. After the recall of its exceptional frame, this presentation aims to demonstrate how, through mapping-workshops open to everyone at the Public Library of their village, the children of Battir created their “Treasure Map” from their local proprietary geospatialized data they extend to neighbouring villages. [Termes IGN] vingtième siècleRésumé : (Auteur) Fluvial corridor quality assessment requires that historical data be collected at a regional scale. In this article, our goal is to assess potential map resources to explore riverscape changes at a regional network scale and to define key issues in using an automated vectorization protocol to characterize such changes on such a large scale. We consider IGN’s Nouvelle Carte de France a potentially good resource for our objective of two-date (oldest + actual vector database) comparisons on 1:20,000–1:25,000 scale maps, notably when applied at a regional scale. The French IGN corpus is a good example of topographic maps that were produced in the twentieth century in Europe with fairly homogeneous data over a whole national territory. Moreover, the digitization and georeferencing processes applied by IGN are very accurate. The evolution of conventional features is not as significant for the hydrographic theme and should not be a problem for automatic vectorization. The potential temporal coverage is from 1922 to 1993, but the complexity of the sheet divisions, partial revisions, and the heterogeneity of coverage over time prevent multidate analysis.
