[Termes IGN] zone intertropicaleIndex. décimale : THESE Thèses et HDR Résumé : (Auteur) La télédétection spatiale peut permettre la surveillance des écosystèmes à condition de relier l'information radiométrique qu'elle fournit aux paramètres biophysiques. L'approche classique consiste à établir des relations empiriques entre le signal radiométrique et le paramètre recherché. Une méthode alternative est apparue avec le développement des modèles de transfert radiatif simulant la réflectance d'un milieu à partir de ses caractéristiques. L'inversion consiste alors à retrouver ces caractéristiques à partir de l'information radiométrique. Cette thèse présente l'inversion du modèle DART (Discrete Anisotropic Radiative Transfer). Celui-ci permet une représentation fine du paysage et une simulation précise des principaux mécanismes d'interaction. Cependant, il est caractérisé par des temps de calcul relativement longs. Cette contrainte a imposé le développement de méthodes particulières pour l'inversion. L'approche repose sur l'utilisation de tables précalculées : des simulations sont effectuées pour un nombre important de jeux de paramètres d'entrée. Une procédure d'interpolation, associée à un modèle analytique, permettent de recréer une simulation pour des valeurs quelconques de paramètres d'entrée. L'inversion est alors réalisée par la méthode du simplexe. Un programme informatique a permis de rendre le processus d'inversion le plus opérationnel possible. Des exemples d'application sont présentés. Il s'agit à chaque fois de collaborations entre écologistes et physiciens permettant de répondre à des préoccupations concrètes telles que la surveillance de la mortalité ligneuse au Burkina Faso, à partir d'images Landsat MSS, ou bien la création de cartes de LAI sur la forêt de Fontainebleau, à partir d'images SPOT. L'inversion, comparée aux méthodes plus classiques, permet une meilleure utilisation des données disponibles et nécessite moins de mesures in situ. Sa capacité d'évolution est de plus très importante.
