[Vedettes matières IGN] CartologieRésumé : (auteur) The comparison of multiple maps is a common fundamental process used by geographers to explore the world. The most frequently applied interactive methods for the comparison of maps are multiple view and swipe. Swipe allows the user to interactively drag and overlap two different maps. Multiple view is based on the simultaneous side-by-side display of several maps. The current paper presents an analysis of the use of these two map comparison techniques in an Esri environment using an eye-tracking study which involved 25 participants. The participants completed two different tasks which compared land suitability using two or four maps. Based on an analysis of the recorded data, we compared the effectiveness of these methods through the accuracy of answers, the trial duration, and eye-tracking metrics of the individual compositional elements of the interactive maps. Cognitive processing was investigated through the analysis of dynamic areas of interest. This labor-intensive analysis yielded results which could be visualized using sequence charts. Based on these analyses, we concluded that the participants worked more effectively with multiple views, especially in comparing four maps. Working with swipe in the Esri environment is non-intuitive in comparisons of more than two maps. Many participants instead preferred simple toggling between layers instead of interactive swipe comparisons. However, when swipe was used to compare two maps, the method was more efficient, especially during cognitively demanding tasks. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (auteur) Applications in smart cities are inseparable from the usage of three-dimensional (3D) building models. However, the cost of generating and constructing 3D building models with semantic information is high both in time and in labour. To solve this problem, we developed a web-based interactive system, VGI3D, with the ambition of becoming a VGI platform to collect 3D building models with semantic information by using the power of crowdsourcing. VGI3D is a platform-independent software program that is composed of a spatially relational database (PostgreSQL/PostGIS) for the storage and management of spatially geometrical data and other software modules, allowing users to import, analyse, reconstruct, visualise, modify and export 3D building models according to the OBJ/CityGML standard. In this paper, we present the VGI3D in detail, focusing on relevant technical implementations, and report the results of limited usability testing aimed at optimising the system and user experience. After limited expert and non-expert participants’ testing, we proved the usefulness of VGI3D and its promising value for the 3D modelling community. [Termes IGN] visualisation de donnéesIndex. décimale : THESE Thèses et HDR Résumé : (auteur) Les représentations iconographiques, telles que les photos historiques d’espaces géographiques, sont des ressources précieuses du Patrimoine Culturel permettant la description de l’évolution d’une zone topographique au cours du temps. Avec l’avènement de l’ère numérique, nombre de ces documents ont été numérisés, spatialisés et sont désormais disponibles en ligne. Cependant, il reste difficile pour les utilisateurs de parcourir et de visualiser ces images dans l’espace et dans le temps. Le projet ANR ALEGORIA relève cet enjeu et s’oriente vers des collections photographiques retraçant le territoire français de l’entre-deux-guerres à nos jours, composées de photographies aériennes et terrestres fournies par le consortium (Archives Nationales, Musée Nicéphore Niépce, Institut National de l’Information Géographique et Forestière).
Cette thèse présente notre proposition pour une exploration visuelle des collections d’images historiques en utilisant une approche interactive à travers l’espace et le temps. Nous proposons de co-visualiser des photographies historiques à l’intérieur de modèles topographiques 3D contemporains, et nos deux contributions principales sont : (i) l’extrapolation du modèle de distorsion géométrique de la photographie pour permettre aux utilisateurs de visualiser le monde numérique 3D à travers le dispositif de capture de la photo à l’aide d’une méthodologie de Rendu Basée sur l’Image ; (ii) la proposition d’un ensemble de techniques de visualisation géographique basées sur la perception visuelle de l’utilisateur pour fournir une exploration interactive en 3D dans l’espace et dans le temps. Pour intégrer ces deux contributions et pour offrir des capacités d’interaction utilisateur, nous avons mis en place le prototype HISTOVIS. Il s’agit d’un système Web offrant une exploration visuelle interactive de vastes collections d’images historiques du projet ALEGORIA. Il combine plusieurs techniques de visualisation et d’interaction, par exemple, cartes thermiques, vignettes d’images, marqueurs de point de vue, etc. Trois scénarios d’usages (visualisation de fonds photographiques, exploration temporelle au niveau de la rue et navigation entre des photographies non spatialisées dans un environnement 3D) ont été évalués par une étude utilisateur et dans le cadre du projet, pour définir et évaluer son utilisabilité.Note de contenu : 1- Outline of work
