[Termes IGN] volume en boisIndex. décimale : THESE Thèses et HDR Résumé : (auteur) Le but principal de la thèse est d'établir la meilleure compréhension du phénomène de l'incertitude spatiale dans la cartographie choroplétique des ressources naturelles et particulièrement de la forêt au Québec. Limitant d'une manière importante l'utilisation d'information spatiale dans la gestion forestière, l'incertitude spatiale est une source d'erreur qui est difficilement quantifiable. Cependant, dans ce travail, nous proposons une méthode qui permet de caractériser et de quantifier cette incertitude spatiale. La méthodologie est basée sur l'étude de la cohérence spatiale et thématique entre plusieurs réalisations cartographiques indépendantes du même territoire qui peuvent être produites à des époques différentes. Non seulement nous définissons le lien entre la cohérence spatiale et l'incertitude spatiale, mais nous proposons aussi des méthodes automatiques pour saisir la cohérence spatiale entre plusieurs réalisations cartographiques. Finalement, nous proposons aussi une méthode pour prédire l'incertitude spatiale qui utilise une seule carte forestière et qui n'est pas basée sur la cohérence spatiale des objets sur plusieurs réalisations. Une application concernant l'estimation du volume de bois à partir d'une carte forestière montre que la connaissance de l'incertitude spatiale peut rendre l'information spatiale plus fiable.
